Why We Check Grade Twice Before We Leave

One thing our crew does on every pad job: we shoot grade before we leave, then shoot it again after final compaction. Takes an extra thirty minutes. Saves the client thousands if something settled or a spot got missed. We've seen too many pads poured on iffy prep and the cracks show up six months later. Not our problem, but it will be someone's. Fix Yard Drainage Before Fall Storms Roll In

Oklahoma fall storms don't play. If your yard held water back in spring, it's going to do it again in October and November unless something changes. September is the right time to fix it. We regrade around foundations, install French drains, run surface drains to daylight, and cut swales that actually carry water where it needs to go. Half the drainage problems we see could've been solved with better grading when the house was built. It wasn't, so now we fix it. The honest answer on cost of gravel driveway installation: it depends on length, width, base condition, and rock type. Around OKC, a basic residential gravel drive usually runs a few thousand for shorter runs and scales up from there for longer rural drives, culverts, or grading. What drives the price is prep.
