David Patchen is featured at Corning!
Born and raised in New York, David Patchen now lives in San Francisco. His work is known for its intense colors, intricate detail, and meticulous craftsmanship, and his pieces are in numerous private collections and exhibited internationally. His book David Patchen, Glass is in the permanent collection of the Rakow Research Library at The Corning Museum of Glass and the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Centro Studi del Vetro (Glass Study Center Library) in Venice, Italy.
These pieces are hand blown with complex murrini techniques composed of hundreds of elements. Each piece is created using hand-pulled cane that is cut into individual murrini and then assembled cold into patterns that are rolled up hot to create these complex pieces.
