This week, the Cassville Fire District placed a new unit in service.

This 2011 Pierce Velocity replaces our 2003 E-One. This apparatus will hold the title of Engine 1.

Engine 1 comes to us from the Parker District Fire Department in South Carolina, where it served for a number of years.

Some quick specs:
1000 gallon water tank
1500 GPM pump
33’ 8” in length
10’ 4” in height
Detroit Diesel Engine

We are excited to see this apparatus serve our district for many years to come.

A special thanks to all the volunteers who took time out of their day to get the truck placed in service. And a thank you to our community for your continued support. 🚒

Cassville Fire District Weather Advisory 🌧️

We are receiving a lot of rain this evening and into the overnight hours across the district. Please use extra caution if you must travel.

🚧 Do NOT drive through flooded roadways—especially at night. It can be impossible to determine how deep the water is or if the roadway beneath has been damaged.

⚠️ TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN. ⚠️

In addition to heavy rainfall, all modes of hazardous weather are possible throughout the night, including damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and the potential for flooding.

✅ Stay weather aware.
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings and updates.
✅ Charge your phones and weather radios.
✅ Be prepared to take shelter if conditions deteriorate.

The Cassville Fire District will be monitoring conditions and are ready to respond if needed. Please do your part to keep yourself and your family safe.

Stay safe and weather aware.

Multiple roadways within the Cassville District are flooded and impassable. As we are surveying the area we are seeing multiple people try to avoid barricades and proceed through flooded waters.

If there is water over the road, please do not try to proceed through it. It only takes a small amount of flowing water to push a vehicle off the roadway.

There has already been one water rescue this morning due to a vehicle stuck in flood waters.

Turn around, don’t drown.

The good news just keeps on coming for members of CFD this week.

In addition to the certifications of Driver/Operator: Core and Live Fire Instructor we shared earlier this week, FF Jeremy Thomas has been informed he has also received his certification for Driver Operator: Pumper.

D/O: Pumper dives into the tiny details of operating a fire apparatus at a fire scene, including calculating things such as how much water is needed, how much pressure is needed for a fire hose, and much more.

Congratulations Jeremy, keep up the good work!
