I will not address the rumors or false accusations that are being circulated by people who have no idea of what really happened. It does not matter. What matters is continuing to give service to families that cannot get internet otherwise.
FiberXstream will be no longer BUT SERVICES TO OUR CUSTOMERS WILL CONTINUE. Another entity will be picking up the pieces and keeping service online in every way they can. New blood in every way to give to this amazing community.
As you may or may not know, this was a family business. We poured all we had, our entire life savings, into bringing internet into areas that did not have access. We have lost everything trying to keep it alive and acquired debts that will take us a lifetime to recover from. We did it for our community. We saved homes and families and stopped people from having to move by bringing the internet to their homes. Especially with COVID, we made a difference and are very proud of that. Those memories of seeing families light up, having internet, and being able to do the things they could not before will forever be a special memory to us. Making a difference for our community is the reason we did this. With COVID, we lost so much ground that we could not recover. Combine that with the policies of the state, and we were struggling at best, to keep things alive. Combine that with the “change” in our community. Call it people migrating in, call it stress, we are not sure, but our community changed from kind, compassionate, grateful people to more and more people being unkind, entitled, mean, and selfish. Working so hard for pennies made no sense when we were treated like garbage. That was not everyone, but an increasing amount over the last three years just took its toll. We fought hard at every turn. This level of push, work, stress, and going 18-hour days 365 days a year also took its toll on the health of TJ. He could not do it any longer. He tried so hard to the point where it was killing him. We had to find another alternative, so we even fought to find anyone who would take it over—someone willing to WORK HARD to take care of everything we built. We were ready to “give” the business to anyone willing to work for our community since that is what this has always been about. Anyone who could keep things going so families, homes, and people could have services they cannot get anywhere else. I am glad we found them.
With our life savings gone, thousands of dollars of hardware scattered across two counties, a network that took seven years to build, and well over 200,000 hours of hard work invested, we had no choice the customers and the community deserve better.
For those families and individuals who have been kind to us, grateful, and supportive. We thank you. You inspired us to keep going, try harder, work harder, and give more. For that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely
The Steele Family
