A tornado watch replaces the severe thunderstorm watch that was in effect for parts of the region.

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 7:40 PM, the Castle Shannon VFD, along with Mt. Lebanon Fire Department, Dormont Fire Department, Whitehall Fire Company, Station 301, Castle Shannon Police Department, and Medical Rescue Team South Authority were dispatched to a residential fire in the 3100 block of May Street.

Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the fire under control. Three firefighters were treated for heat-related illnesses. Fortunately, no civilian injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Castle Shannon VFD would like to thank our additional mutual aid partners, Brentwood Volunteer Fire Company, Station 116, Baldwin Fire Rescue, and Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services of Western Pennsylvania for their assistance and support throughout the incident.

Thank you so much to the Girl Scouts of Western PA for their amazing donation of Girl Scout cookies! These girls work hard every year and give back by way of their donation program “Operation Sweet Appreciation”! Thank you also to the customers who purchase cookies which assists the Girl Scouts with this program!! We truly appreciate it!

Sometimes our training leads to teaching others about what we do. Last week we had one of those days. Driver training led us to Hamilton Park where the kiddos were so happy to see and learn about one of the engines! These kids know the proper color of a fire truck is green!!! 😂

We are always grateful to be asked to assist with the KO mock car crash. Along side Dormont Fire Departmentand Green Tree Volunteer Fire Company our goal is to make the kids aware of the dangers of drinking and driving not just during prom season but always! These kids who played a part were simply amazing! Thank you Keystone Oaks School District for continuing this event every year!
