It’s spring and time to work on some new projects, UFOs and WIPs. Before starting, I decided it was time to clean my sewing machine…again.

I do this after every major project is finished. I also check the needle and wind a ton of bobbins in the colors I will need. These colors include gray, off white, blue, red, green and a light & dark variegated. I don’t wind one of each I wind a minimum of 3 of all the colors except the gray & off white. Those I wind at least 6 each. Yes I do have a bunch of extra bobbins and yes I have multiple bobbin holders for 4 different machines. And yes all machines get cleaned by me regularly and once a year by my favorite machine guy, Bill.

Day 2 of the mandated stay at home....finished 3 quilts. Starting on another one...cleaning room by room. Finally have the new sewing machine cabinet set up and it;s fantastic!!!! Finished a sports hat quilt last week....a first...and now onto the box of fabric that is falling over in the studio! Hat quilt, first and 2nd place at the Riverside County Fair 2020. The beaded Hawaiian quilt has 12 hours of hand beading....more time than it took to cut, applique and quilt the piece. lol Go big or go home!!!

Had to resort to old school a week ago to finish a rag quilt for a customer. Apparently my new fancy sewing machine doesn’t like flannel, minky & batting blocks.

So I broke out one of my older machines and away we went. All done....be prepared for possible problems if you have a newer electronic machine. Mine didn’t like the thickness and kept giving me error codes. You do have to use a sharp needle (size 90 worked) 40 or 50 weight thread, and make your stitch length longer. Or just bring everything to the studio & I can help you out! Lol!!
