Atlantic Coast Electric Supply- Greenville is in the spotlight this week!

Branch Spotlight, Greenville: Experience, Resilience, and a Customer-First Mentality

The Greenville location holds an important place in the ACES story as one of the original branches formed through the acquisition of Southeastern Electrical Distributors in December 2016. But while the location had history, it also needed renewed energy, updated resources, and a fresh push to rebuild momentum in the market.

The early days in Greenville were about getting the branch moving again. At the time, the team had around seven employees. Inventory was one of the biggest early challenges, followed closely by the need to change how the local electrical community viewed the business. The branch was operating in the same location it occupies today, but much of the equipment was overdue for an upgrade. From the beginning, the Greenville team had to rely on experience, hard work, and persistence to move the branch forward.

Growth Through Experience

Over the years, the Greenville market has changed significantly, and the branch has grown along with it. The customer base today looks very different than it did in the early days. Many of the companies Greenville works with now were not familiar names years ago, and ACES was not yet familiar to them either. Building those relationships took time, consistency, and a willingness to prove the branch’s value through service. That growth has been supported by a team with deep experience and long-standing commitment. That experience is one of Greenville’s greatest strengths.

A Culture Built on Customer Relationships

If there is one thing that defines the Greenville team, it is the commitment to making sure customers get what they need to do their jobs.

Whether that means tracking down material, solving a problem, making a delivery, cutting wire, or even finding an emergency item outside normal channels, the goal is simple: complete the order and support the customer.

The Greenville team takes pride in being practical, responsive, and willing to do what is needed. With a lean headcount, everyone understands the importance of stepping in where needed. There is not a strong divide between “my job” and “your job” when something needs to get done.

That willingness to help, combined with the experience across the team, has helped Greenville continue to serve a mix of commercial, residential, multifamily, and industrial customers throughout the market.

Looking Ahead

The Greenville market continues to offer significant growth potential, and the branch is focused on expanding its footprint and strengthening its presence in the region. With the recent expansion in sales headcount, the team has opportunities to broaden its customer base and continue building momentum in the market.

From its early days as part of the original ACES foundation to where it stands today, Greenville’s story is one of experience, resilience, and steady growth. The branch may describe itself as laid back, but its approach is clear: take care of the customer, support the team, and keep moving forward. As the Greenville market continues to grow, the team is ready to grow with it.

Columbia MVPs of MVV: Recognizing Those Who Define ACES

As part of our Top Workplace celebration, ACES is proud to recognize individuals across each location who bring our values to life every day.

The MVPs of MVV (Mission, Vision, and Values) are selected through peer voting at each location, highlighting those who consistently demonstrate what it means to be part of ACES through their actions, attitude, and impact.

For our second spotlight, we want to highlight two individuals from Columbia. We are proud to recognize Cam Parker and Crystal Elam as this week’s MVPs of MVV.

Their recognition reflects the respect they have earned from their peers and the impact they continue to make within the Columbia location.

Cam Parker – Outside Account Manager

Cam Parker’s journey to ACES is rooted in both experience and a long-standing connection to the electrical distribution industry.

After graduating from Clemson with a degree in Financial Management, Cam began his career with an electrical distributor, working his way through several areas of the business including warehouse, quotations, inside sales, and outside sales. He later spent time as a project manager for an electrical contractor before joining ACES and becoming part of the team that helped launch the Columbia branch.

What attracted Cam to ACES was the opportunity to be part of a smaller, locally based independent distributor. A distributor where employees have the flexibility to make decisions, solve problems, and do what is needed to support the customer. Cam has embraced that approach in the way he serves his customers by building strong relationships through trust, follow-through, and a willingness to do what it takes. His sales ability and customer-first mindset have made him a key contributor to Columbia’s sales growth and continued success in the market.

For Cam, the work carries a larger purpose. He describes his motivation simply: he is helping build America. The projects he supports provide people with new places to live and businesses with new places to operate, produce, and grow. Beyond his role in sales, Cam also contributes by sharing the knowledge he has gained throughout his career. With a young team full of potential, he takes pride in helping others continue to learn, improve, and grow into their own success.

Crystal Elam – Operations

For Crystal, ACES has been more than a workplace, it has been an opportunity to help build something from the ground up.

Before joining ACES, Crystal spent time as a stay-at-home mom before returning to the workforce as an administrative assistant and project manager for another electrical supply company. When she heard ACES was preparing to open a location in Columbia, she saw an opportunity to be part of something new.

Crystal came to ACES with experience in project management, but helping build the Columbia branch from the beginning allowed her to grow far beyond one area of the business. Over time, she became a helping hand across multiple parts of the branch, gaining a deeper understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and teamwork needed to help the location succeed.

That experience has helped Crystal become one of the most trusted resources within the Columbia branch. Her teammates know they can count on her to step in, help find answers, and keep things moving when support is needed. With her knowledge of job management and her understanding of how different parts of the branch work together, Crystal has become a steady presence who helps hold the operation together day by day.

For Crystal, the Columbia team is more than just a group of coworkers, it feels like a second family. That connection is what motivates her to show up and give her best each day, supporting the team with the same care and commitment she gives to her own family.

Being recognized by her peers means a great deal to Crystal, but in true team-first fashion, she shared that she feels everyone on the team deserves recognition.

Branch Spotlight, Columbia: Built Through Adaptability, and Team Commitment

The Columbia location represents an important chapter in the continued growth of ACES.

Established in December 2018, the branch was created to support growing opportunities within the Columbia market and provide strong manufacturer representation throughout the region. While the location itself was new, the goal was familiar: continue building the type of independent distributor focused on relationships, service, and long-term growth.

The early days in Columbia were modest.

The small team of five originally operated out of a rented office space in an old house before moving into its permanent location in 2019, marking another step forward in the growth of the branch. Like many growing operations, the branch evolved through experience, adapting to new challenges, growing customer relationships, and continuing to establish itself within the market.

Over time, the Columbia location expanded its presence into multifamily and commercial construction while continuing to pursue opportunities within residential and industrial. The core of the team has remained steady, helping shape the identity of the branch and maintain stability throughout its growth.

Buffalo Culture

At the center of the Columbia location is a culture the team refers to as:

“Buffalo Culture – We Protect the Herd.”

That mindset reflects the way the team approaches its work each day.

The Columbia team takes pride in supporting one another, stepping up when needed, and maintaining a close-knit environment where everyone contributes to keeping the branch moving forward. This approach has helped preserve the chemistry and operational mindset that have been part of the location since the beginning. The culture in Columbia isn’t built around individual recognition. It’s built around the understanding that success is achieved collectively.

Focused on Relationships

One thing that has remained consistent throughout the location’s development is its focus on strengthening relationships and continuing to improve the customer experience. As part of this continued focus, the Columbia market became the first within ACES to participate in a customer focus group initiative aimed at gathering direct customer feedback and identifying areas for operational improvement.

Those conversations created valuable insight into both customer expectations and operational opportunities, helping drive ongoing improvements in service and communication. The branch’s willingness to listen, adapt, and evolve reflects a team committed not only to growth, but to continuously improving the experience they provide for their customers.

Looking Ahead

With continued development expected throughout the Columbia market, the branch sees significant opportunity ahead.

The team remains focused on continuing its growth, expanding its customer base, and strengthening its role within both the local market and broader ACES.

For Columbia, the future is about continuing to build on the progress already made while remaining committed to the mindset that helped the branch grow from the very beginning. As both the market and ACES continue to evolve, the Columbia team is ready to continue growing alongside it.
