Annie was given a fun opportunity this summer! Fortepan Iowa reached out to her. They are part of an open source photo history platform. They collect local, real photos and document them and make them accessible - it is a GREAT artist resource. The Iowa branch had recently cataloged a ton of iconic cattle photos from the National Cattle Congress and they thought these cows deserved a little spotlight.
Annie made five risograph prints, one of each of the main breeds that are in the collection. She styled them like vintage show posters..doing one of her favorite things, which is making one medium look like another. She used type from the Rob Roy Kelly American Wood Type Collection and played with texture and layout. Then let the beloved vibe of riso (and our limited color palette) do the rest.
Anyway, cow art wasn't necessarily on our radar..but this project was a delight! You can find the prints THIS WEEKEND at the Fortepan booth at both National Cattle Congress and Mohair Pear's Pear Fair. Or, of course, in the shop at Pretty Good Co. π
