Cedar Hill Fire Protection District Information from the Cedar Hill Fire Protection District. The first truck, a 1950 Ford F-7 Central Fire Truck, was purchased in December of 1950.

The Cedar Hill Community Fire Association was formed in 1950 when a group of business leaders decided the area needed a fire department. Then in 1971 the voters of the district voted on the formation of the Cedar Hill Fire Protection District, which passed. In 1981 the voters approved the construction of fire station #2, and the purchase of a pumper. In 1988 a tax increase was passed to pay Central County Dispatching to dispatch calls instead of the department doing their own dispatching. In 1990 there was an addition done to Station #1 and property was bought for Station #3. 1991 brought on the first paid Fire Chief, Terry Soer, who is still fire chief to this day. In 1994 the voters passed a bond issue that paid for an addition to Station #2, build Station #3, and purchase two new pumpers. Voters passed another tax increase in 2002 that brought on five new paid personnel. In 2015 taxpayers passed a tax increase that made it possible to staff all of our stations with 24 hour personnel 7 days a week.

As always, September kept us busy!

🚨 138 emergency responses to serve our community.

🔥 485 hours of training covering hose handling and fire stream management, RIT (Rapid Intervention Team), and pumping operations. Our crews continue to sharpen their skills to be ready when our community needs us.

🤝 Community Involvement: We participated in numerous public relations events throughout the month, including football game standbys, the Backstoppers BBQ, and supporting the Clayton 9/11 Stair Climb.

We remain committed to serving our community, both on and off the emergency scene. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our department and the work we do!

đźš’ Training to Protect Our Community! đź’¦

This week, our crews trained on water mapping, air entrainment, and flowing water. This hands-on training allowed us to visualize where the water is going and better understand the effects that air can have on our firefighting operations.

We would like to thank Fenton Fire Protection District for allowing us to use their UL prop and training tower.

We also appreciate the opportunity to train alongside our fellow Tri-County Training Consortium partners . Training together strengthens our skills, builds relationships, and helps us work more effectively when we’re called upon to help each other.

We train to sharpen our skills, understand the science behind what we do, and ultimately protect the people we serve. đź’Şđźš’

Another busy month is in the books! Here’s a look at what our crews accomplished throughout the month:

🚨 122 Emergency Responses
Our emergency responses included medical calls, structure fires, and other incidents where our crews were needed to protect and serve our community.

đź“š 545 Hours of Training
Our members trained on critical topics including HAZMAT, SCBA, Incident Command, and EMS to ensure we’re prepared to serve our community when the call comes.

🤝 34+ Hours of Public Relations & Community Education
Our members were out in the community participating in back-to-school events, blood drives, high school event standbys, and other community activities.

🙏 Thank You for Your Support
We would also like to thank the public for your support during the bond election. Your continued support of the Cedar Hill Fire Department means so much to our members and helps us continue preparing to serve our community.

Every call, every training hour, and every community event helps us become better prepared to serve you.

This September, as we remember the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, you may see some of our firefighters wearing FDNY or 9/11 remembrance T-shirts.

For each day a firefighter wears a remembrance shirt, they will make a $5 donation. At the end of the month, all money raised will be donated to Tunnel to Towers (T2T).

Since 9/11, T2T has been helping America’s heroes and their families. The organization provides mortgage-free homes to fallen first responder families with young children, as well as specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.

T2T also provides the children of home recipients with full scholarships for undergraduate degrees and accredited trade school programs, helping them build a brighter and more secure future.

Their mission also includes working to eradicate veteran homelessness and ensuring that we Never Forget September 11, 2001.

This September, we proudly wear these shirts not only in remembrance, but also as a way to give back to those who have sacrificed so much.
