Justice of the Peace - Christie Girouard

Justice of the Peace - Christie Girouard I will travel to your venue of choice. Hotel or mountain summit any time of year. I am happy to provide price quotes upon request. They are all special.

I have been a Justice of the Peace since 2003. There is a sense of accomplishment in making each experience personal. My love of the outdoors expands the spectrum of when and where a wedding can be performed. There is no ceremony too large or too small.

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH BEAUTIFUL THINGS

I admit, my nervous system has been activated by global matters. My quest becomes a soulful intervention to be peaceful. And I think about this title I have lived by for over 22 years. Justice of the Peace. It is a privilege that keeps evolving in ways I could never have imagined back in 2003.

Justice of the Peace. What an honorable journey. A reciprocal appreciation of the heart. Yesterday, I was introduced to a "new" destination in Randolph. Shared with lovely people while soaking in the extraordinary views of King's Ravine. A peaceful plain, offering a whisper quiet, surrounded by beautiful things.

Blessings Abound.

"PEACE ON EARTH" my version....

I find that my quest for peace is reflected on the way I live, and the way I think. The way I treat other people, and the way I treat myself. To always remain in kindness, while facing adversity. And to honor my heart as it seeks serenity. Being peaceful begins from the inside out. And this is the attitude that creates the space around us.

I share my weekend of celebrating love. This keeps my feet firmly planted in moments of excellence. The people I meet and the places I go are far from coincidence. Synchronicity is a powerful force. And when you believe your are on the right path, no matter the obstacle, the journey is filled with validation. I know I am exactly where I am meant to be.

Bright Blessings to all for 2026

MOUNTAIN NUPTIALS

My love of the mountains has brought me to astounding heights. Being a JP, has offered an opportunity to share this passion with others.

I began my journey of ceremonies all the way back in August of 2003. By 2010, the internet became a viable source for finding an officiant. This opened a door for me to add an adventurous aspect to my services. Pictured is my very first summit wedding on Iron Mountain in the pouring rain. The bride did wear white, and her leggings were "something blue".

The article in Vibe, is an honorable commemoration of these past 15 years of being a hiking JP. The magazine photo captures me on Rattlesnake Mountain in Holderness, NH. My colleague, Mike Cherim, has taken his expertise as a mountain guide to build his own platform of assisting couples in creating memories that feel most personal.

I wish to offer many thanks to Kimberly Steward-Justice of the Peace, and Kelly Haden-Wimpory for all their referrals and support. Utmost gratitude to Dave Greenslit for taking the time to mindfully interview in order to create such a lovely representation for those of us who seek the peak!!

JUNE BRIDE?

I marvel at the concept of the June bride. For 2 decades, I have not found this to be a popular month for weddings. Now, if we talk about September and October.....well, that's a different story. It is not only a busy time for couples to "jump the broom", it is also a time for mass hysteria regarding the changing colors of the leaves.

I invite you to do an internet search of recent travels across the Kancamagus Highway, and eking your way up Interstate 93 toward Franconia Notch or perhaps vice versa. Apparently the state of NH has experienced an ever increasing population explosion during foliage.

I have lived up here for 47 years, and in few words I can only say, "I've never seen such a thing!!" I was totally naive about my travel time to arrive at the Indian Head Resort in North Lincoln, NH for a rehearsal on Friday. A 70 minute drive took an hour and a half. Though I always give extra time for travel, my heart was in my throat as we pulled into the parking lot 2 minutes late. Richie and I made a solemn vow, "We're giving it 2 hours to get to the wedding tomorrow."

So we left our house at 1:00 PM to allow ample time prior to the 3:00 PM wedding. The drive started out OK, and I almost felt a bit cocky, planning to stop in Lincoln for an iced coffee. And then.... there was major grid locked traffic in a way that's hard to describe. It was a mish mosh of cars, lines of people, dogs, and mayhem all over the road at every turn. The drive, in a horrible reality, took the full 2 hours. I won't say there were screeching tires, but suffice as to say we kinda pulled into the parking lot on two wheels. There were only moments to spare. To say this was way outside my comfort zone would only be for lack of better words!!

I took some deep breaths, with book and reading glasses in hand. I walked toward the gathered company slowly, but with purpose always mindful to offer calm. And from that moment on, the experience was undeniably gorgeous, emotional, and absolutely stunning. Once my body was over my feet, I was fully immersed in the beauty of this couple amidst their family and friends.

The drive to Cathedral Ledge yesterday felt like a piece of cake. It is my back yard of sorts, but I still gave it an extra 20 minutes. To all future couples.....I am on my way!! I promise.

Many blessings to Cole & Maddie; Matt and Lindsey. Cheers.

THE SAME SPOT

As a JP, the opportunities of returning to the same spot are pretty common. Over the years, Iron Mountain (including the summit) has provided the same landscape. Yet, every visit offers something different.

The weather, the couple, the time of year, will never cease to amaze by creating a new experience. Yesterday's elopement was spectacular as it unfolded in the "same spot". Many blessings and continued best wishes to Alexandra & Griffin, and all the couples who have added me to their story.

GOING TO THE WEDDING

As a JP, there is much consideration that goes into officiating a wedding. There are many e-mails and phone calls that lead up to that special day. I always wear standard black as not to clash with any of the color themes. I prepare by reading over the ceremony, practicing the names of the bride and groom, and regarding all the little intricacies that have been asked of me to personalize the experience. Once there, I collect the license and make contact with the wedding party or coordinator. And then I take my place up front with a smile and warm greetings to all who have gathered.

Admittedly, I have not gone to a lot of weddings as a guest. I must say the emotional aspect was something I was not prepared for. Our son's best friend was getting married and he was a groomsman. Our families have played integral roles in the raising of our boys, so it was extremely personal. There were many tears of joy and laughter. Fond memories to share and lots of stories to be told.

It was an amazing day that brought me even closer to the gift of being a Justice of the Peace. Going to the wedding acted as a reminder of how meaningful it is to be part of someone's story. It is a privilege to stand before gathered company while assisting couples in creating the experience that will be talked about for years to come. Weddings are a gorgeous commemoration of family and friends. We never know ahead of time what emotions will be felt in those moments. Soak them all in!!

I DO STILL...

I share photos taken over the span of time from 1992, 2017, and 2025. Richie and I have traveled a great distance, and we lean into the knowledge that has been realized over decades.

When we hear the word "soulmate" the imagination creates this vision of a lightening bolt that cracks open the sky....and your person is standing right in front of you. Having had a "starter" marriage (1979-1992) my perspective of that has changed over time. Though we want to believe we can live on love, there are many more ingredients that are required to build a sound relationship.

Humor, negotiation, and compromise.....these are a must have. Relationships are bound to get complicated and messy. A partnership requires two people who are in it together. Don't get me wrong, we've had our bumps and bruises. Many moments of doubt have crossed our path. Though we said, "I do" 33 years ago, we are not impervious to stumbling. But when I think of these trips and falls, I can honestly say, "We've grown pretty good at getting back up."

AA Milne wrote in Now We Are Six: When we're two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we've found the right person. Our soul mate is the one who makes life come to life.

And every day since August 29, 1992 our marriage keeps repeating, "Every experience I am going to have, I want you to be part of."

THEY SAY TO MAKE HAY....

While the sun shines. As a Justice of the Peace, the time spent in navigation, in order to be part of the story, contributes to the success and the joy. Four wedding ceremonies, and a vow renewal (not pictured) was the journey for this week. But we never know what tomorrow may bring.

It is an effort to Cease the Day. My husband will, sometimes, shake his head. I admit, there have been times when I have squeezed myself into a box of logistics in order to be available for 3 ceremonies in a day. I have since rethought that sort of plan, and find myself leaning more toward simplicity.

The path of being a JP, has brought me to many places. I am humbled for the experiences that couples have willingly tethered me along! Being chosen to share precious moments is always an honor and a privilege.

All the best in whatever is yet to come for Craig & Elyse, Jeff & Val, Chris & Bethany, Shane & Aubrey, and Zack & Cait.

ALMOST LAFAYETTE

I can't tell you the location of these wedding photos....as I have been sworn to secrecy. The intention was to summit Mt Lafayette, a sentimental journey for the bride and groom. We agreed to meet at the Greenleaf Hut, and then make a collective decision on the weather.

As Richie, Bo (our pup), and I made our way up the Old Bridle Path, we could feel and see the weather changing. What started out as a fairly blue sky, changed rapidly. Summit predictions: high wind, rain, hail, and thunderstorms. Not a good recipe for success.

So we carved out this little niche....let's just say, "Off the beaten path." I find that weather can say a lot. No, it was not a bluebird sky like you would hope. But the beauty of this moment and this place cannot be denied.

A chapter in the book that will be told and remembered for years to come. Many Blessings to Gavin & Alyssa.

JP SERVICES

When we think of a Justice of the Peace, our mind typically goes to a person who officiates weddings. I would like to broaden your view, and share that our services can expand into other areas.

I, recently, officiated a memorial service. It is the 3rd time I have been asked, and find it a profound honor. My presence (as in a wedding) becomes part of the story. A very intimate moment in the lives of a family. Chosen to provide empathy for the loss of a loved one, and offer words that comfort.

Being a JP, initiates a deeper look into patience, compassion, and kindness. Our service to couples and families can be applied to any event that requires guidance with words.

As a professional with years of on the job training, please consider experience to be an important component. Qualifications, skill and competence are a valuable asset. Be it the celebration of birth, loss of a loved one, or unity of family, a Justice of the Peace will ensure that your experience is represented in full.
