It is official! Last night was an unforgettable evening as our leadership team stepped onto the national stage at the AHCA/NCAL Celebration of Excellence right here in Boston to formally accept the National Silver – Achievement in Quality Award! 🏆✨
This prestigious award places Cherokee County Health & Rehabilitation Center in an elite tier of skilled nursing providers nationwide. Grounded in the rigorous standards of the Baldrige Excellence Framework, this honor recognizes our deep organizational commitment to superior clinical outcomes, innovative leadership, and exceptional resident care.
This national milestone is the result of an incredible collaborative network:
• The daily ex*****on of clinical excellence by our dedicated facility Administrator, Jennifer Cambron, Director of Nursing, Bone, Quality Assurance Director, Hutchins, Director of Social Services, Compton, Director of Maintenance, McNabb, all Department Heads, and the phenomenal frontline staff working 24/7 back home in Centre.
•The strategic vision and support of our governing board, The Cherokee County Health Care Authority (TCCHCA).
• The operational direction of the Preferred Health Services, Inc. management team.

We are so proud to celebrate this victory alongside our sister facility, Piedmont Health Care Center, as we continue to elevate the benchmark for senior care across our region. Day 1 in the Books! 🚀 Highlights from the AHCA/NCAL Convention in Boston
We are having an absolute blast here in Boston! The energy at the convention center is incredible, and our joint team from Preferred Health Services, Inc., Cherokee County Health & Rehabilitation Center, and Piedmont Health Care Center is soaking up every minute.

So far, Sunday and Monday have been action-packed:
•🎂 Celebrated Kelly birthday at Cheers on Sunday!
• 🌅 This Morning: We kicked things off with an inspiring Opening General Session with keynote speaker, Josh Linkner that set the tone for the week ahead.
• 🛍️ This Afternoon: We explored the massive Expo trade show floor, checking out the latest innovative technology and workforce solutions to bring back home to Alabama.
• 🧠 Right Now: We are diving right back into advanced educational tracks, focusing on the latest clinical quality metrics and long-term care management strategies.
Earning the National Silver Quality Award is all about a continuous commitment to excellence, and our administrative and clinical leaders are here to keep raising the bar for our residents and families!

Happy Faux Fall, yall!! 🍃🍁🍂 We wish everyone a fantastic fall season. It may still be 92 degrees around here, but we are going to crank up the A/C, put our best fall layers on, enjoy soup and cornbread, and pretend like it’s sweater weather!! 🎃

Jennifer is a long serving professional in our Memory Care unit, where she has loved and cared for so many residents. Congratulations, Jennifer! Much deserved!

Piedmont Health Care Center and Dugger Mountain Specialty Care Assisted Living Facility are pleased to announce the appointment of Penny Cochran as our new Administrator, effective June 1, 2026.

Penny brings nearly three decades of long-term care experience and a lifelong commitment to serving seniors and their families. Throughout her career, she has served in numerous leadership and clinical roles, earning the respect of residents, families, and colleagues alike.

Many of you already know Penny from her previous service as Assistant Administrator at Piedmont Health Care Center. During her time here, she became a valued member of our team and developed strong relationships with our residents, families, and employees.

Penny is known for her servant leadership, compassion, energy, and unwavering dedication to resident-centered care. She genuinely loves this profession, and more importantly, she loves the people who make our facilities special—our residents, families, and employees.

Please join us in welcoming Penny back to the Piedmont Health Care Center and the Dugger Mountain Memory Care and Senior Independent Living Apartments family.
