Several people have reached out as we've hit the 10-year milestone. As I've reflected on everything that's happened over the last decade, a few things stand out.
As an entrepreneur, I had a head start that many business owners never get.
It wasn't because of a large inheritance, outside investors, or seed funding.
What I had was even more valuable: unwavering support.
My wife, parents, and siblings believed in me before there was much to believe in. That confidence spilled over into friends and extended family.
I've met countless entrepreneurs who questioned themselves because the people closest to them questioned them first. I never had that.
Most people don't know this, but I wrote my business plan on a flight to my wedding. My soon-to-be wife never hesitated. She simply believed I'd figure it out.
My parents and siblings always said the same thing:
"Dan will be alright."
"Dan will figure it out."
"He's going to make it work."
Today, my kids are excited to make videos with me about helping businesses save money. That support has come full circle.
I've also been fortunate to have mentors who shared their experiences and helped me avoid mistakes they had already made.
And then there are the clients who took a chance on a new company. Many of them are still with me 10 years later. That trust is something I'll never take for granted.
At every stage of this journey, someone has been in my corner. For that, I'll always be grateful.
None of us knows what the future holds. But when I eventually look back on this chapter of my life, I won't remember the contracts, the savings, or the milestones first. I'll remember the people who believed in me before the results existed.
That's the greatest gift of all!
