I’ll remember 2025 as the year nothing went according to plan. What began as a year with big dreams quickly became derailed when we lost a baby in February. It was a very early miscarriage. While I had only known I was pregnant for a week, it didn’t seem to make the grief process any easier. We loved that baby immediately. We were so excited for Leona to have a sibling. As believers, Niko and I don’t grieve without hope. We truly believe that babe skipped ahead of us into the arms of Jesus. And yet, suddenly, life felt dark, barren, and lonely.
In the messy middle of that grief, I was welcomed into family homes of all kinds. For a couple hours at a time you invited me in to embrace your stories.
You let me treasure your newborn moments.
You told me about your own loss and struggle.
You allowed me to lean hard into joy and tenderness as I guided your family portrait experiences...
and it was like a healing balm for my own broken heart.
There is so much I could say, but all I really want to say is thank you. Thank you for sprinkling this year with unexpectedly vibrant and joyful moments. Thank you for trusting me to tell your stories as I navigated my own. Thank you for loving each other and me really well.
As for our 2026 expectations, we are delighted the Lord has blessed us with another baby to love. God-willing, we’ll meet him or her mid-summer. This emotional journey has changed me in a lot of ways. It’s surely going to impact my intentions for family photography this year.
First, my primary goal is to be more intentional about the way I shoot. I’m ready to take more creative risks in the ways I engage and photograph families, and I’m excited to explore deeper emotion and connection in the art we create together.
I’ll be photographing less as I seek to treasure my own family moments. I want margin to cherish this answered prayer and the ways it will change our home and family dynamic.
If you value art and your family is a priceless treasure to you, you are my people. Let’s chat about the ways we can dive deep into the heart of your story. You’re building a legacy of love right in your home. I’d be so honored to capture it all.
