I will not be working on horses from January 10-February 9 as we set up and run booths for Ray’s at the Black Hills Stock Show. Please get ahold of me before then if you need horses done, otherwise they will have to wait until after. Thank you for your understanding!

Spring is near and this nice weather has me booking up fast. I will be implementing some strict changes with my business this year.
1. Travel will be at my discretion and if I do travel, adequate working conditions are a must.
2. Adequate working conditions include solid dry footing, cover from the elements (rain, mud, sunlight) and an overall safe environment.
3. Payment is due at time of service. I will no longer be lenient about getting a check or Venmo to me at a later date.
4. Readiness. I’ve been lucky to have a great clientele that have always been ready, but I will stress this for those that haven’t been ready when I arrive. This means having horses caught, clean, and dry.
5. I am not a trainer. The days of tying up legs for me are over. I don’t envy being put in dangerous situations teaching a young horse and trying to trim them simultaneously.
6. I am also not a vet. If there is a problem that we cannot see from observation, I will recommend X-rays. I cannot guess what is wrong with a horse when there is technology to pin point exactly what it is. I am willing to work alongside your vet, as I have done in several cases, to get the horse back in working condition.

Sometimes functional isn’t always the prettiest.

This horse came in with paper thin soles, thin hoof wall, and distortion. Horse responded to a finger touch on the sole. I opted for a Freedom Clog to keep pressure off the sole and on the hoof wall. Due to the thin hoof wall, addressing distortions was minimal until additional growth is achieved.

Horse walked out better and is back to work, can’t ask for anything better.
