🌾 Barley is rolling. Hops are hopping. Harvest season is here. 🌿

The 2026 barley & hop harvest is getting underway across North America, and so far, the outlook is looking pretty good.

Barley harvest has begun in early regions, with overall crop conditions looking encouraging across the U.S. and Canada. In the Pacific Northwest, hops are progressing well, with Washington on track, Idaho looking strong and Oregon showing potential for average to above-average yields.

Of course, harvest has a way of keeping everyone on their toes. Weather, timing and those first quality results will tell us a lot more over the next few weeks.
So… what does all of this mean for brewers and distillers?
We broke down what we’re seeing in the fields, what we’re watching and what you should know about the 2026 crop.

🍓 MEET THE MAKERS: Oregon Fruit Company 🍒

They’re beer folks who happen to sell really good fruit. Their words, not ours.

90+ years of fruit and 40+ years of beer? Yes, Oregon Fruit knows a thing or two.  They’ve been working with fruit in Salem since 1935 and working with brewers for more than four decades. But if you only know them for fruit purees in beer, you’re missing part of the story. There’s a lot more to Oregon Fruit than what’s in your pint.

🍓 Purees & concentrates
🍋 Lemonades & slushies
🍹 Cocktails & mocktails
🍨 Gelato & sorbet
🥄 Sauces & toppings

Through it all, their focus has stayed the same: real fruit, quality ingredients, and finding new ways to help beverage makers create something great. The Oregon Fruit Company

We’re proud to work with makers who care as much about quality, creativity, and great ingredients as we do. Oregon Fruit has been raising the bar for more than 90 years, and we’re pretty excited to help bring their fruit to yours.

🍻 BrewDeck Podcast S7 E11: Brewing the Message-Part 2 is now live!

For Part 2, we wanted to bring in two more perspectives from breweries operating at different scales and with different marketing resources.

🎙️ Saint Arnold Brewing Company in Houston, Texas Saint Arnold Brewing Company
🎙️ Good Word Brewing & Public House in Duluth, Georgia Good Word Brewing & Public House

Saint Arnold has been around for more than 30 years and has a dedicated marketing team working across social media, sponsorships, donations, events, tastings, activations, and more. Good Word opened its doors in 2017 and operates with a marketing team of one, balancing social media and promotion with collaborations, events, and community engagement.

What marketing strategies still work whether you have a big budget, a small budget, or basically no budget at all? And as we talked with Lennie  and Todd, one thing became pretty clear: the scale might change, but the fundamentals don’t.

🍺 Tell your story.
🤝 Build real relationships.
📍 Be part of your community.
💡 Collaborate.
📣 DO EVERYTHING WITH INTENTION

What would you do differently if someone handed you $100K just for marketing and a team of five people? 👀 Now, the opposite question: How do you market a brewery when your marketing budget is… basically nonexistent? 🍺

Is social media your only option? Should you be doing product photography? How do you measure whether a social campaign actually worked? And most importantly, how do you tell your story?

We had a lot of questions! So for this month’s BrewDeck Podcast, we talked to different breweries from around the country, each with different marketing budgets, locations, audiences, and stories, to find out how they approach marketing in the real world. And apparently, we weren’t the only ones who wanted to have this conversation. 😂

When we asked breweries to participate, more than 70 breweries reached out wanting to share their experiences, offer advice, or simply learn how other breweries are doing it. We had so much to talk about that we turned it into TWO episodes. 🎙️🍻

For Part 1, we’re joined by Weir Beer in California and Birdsview Brewing in Washington. And here’s something many small breweries will probably relate to: at both breweries, the marketing team is ONE person.  So… how do they do it?

And don’t go too far because Part 2 drops later this week, when we talk to two more breweries operating with very different marketing budgets and hear how that changes the way they approach marketing.

Rising Hope Brew Day at Mike Hess Brewing? Count us in. 🍻💛

A few weeks ago, our team rolled up our sleeves and joined Mike Hess Brewing for a brew day that was about something much bigger than beer.

Mike Hess Brewing is one of the breweries helping lead Rising Hope, the signature beer of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation Brewing Funds the Cure program, which brings breweries and industry partners together to raise funds for childhood cancer research. And this year’s West Coast Rising Hope recipe sounds GOOD.

🍺 West Coast Pilsner
Brewed with Tchecomalt Pilsen, Wheat, and Vienna malts, and finished with Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops. Look for it this September during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

So, how does Rising Hope work?
Breweries across the country can join the program by brewing one of two Rising Hope recipes, with proceeds from every pint supporting the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation and its mission to fund research for better, less toxic treatments for childhood cancer.

To help make those brews happen, Rising Hope partners receive donated ingredients from Country Malt Group, along with a recipe card, custom tap handles, and promotional materials to support their release.

We’re incredibly proud to play a part by donating ingredients to participating breweries across the country. Because when breweries, suppliers, and beer lovers come together, a pint can do a whole lot more than taste good. 💛

And there’s more Rising Hope on the way! Florida Avenue Brewing Co. is getting ready to brew the East Coast Pilsner version, so stay tuned. 👀🍺

Huge thanks to the team at Mike Hess Brewing for having us for brew day.
Great beer. Greater cause. Here’s to raising a pint for Rising Hope. 🍻💛
