We made the news! KOAM came out to Fort Scott last week to look at the system at Sekan Printing, and the piece ran Tuesday night.

300 kW of solar with a 240 kWh battery with some nice footage of whole setup.

They also ran a second piece last night on an off-grid solar irrigation system we rebuilt for a farm out in Crawford County. Two in one week. More on that one next week.

Sekan Printing is now running the biggest solar-battery system in Southeast Kansas: 300 kW of solar with a 240 kWh battery, covering nearly all of their electricity demand.

Their presses start at 5:30 am and run to 3:30 pm. The battery carries that early shift before the sun is up, then works alongside the solar through the day, smoothing out the spikes every time the big presses come on.

71 kWp of solar approved for Humboldt's water plant.

Monday night, the City Council voted unanimously for the install — three rows of ground-mounted panels behind the plant, on city land that wasn't being used for anything else.

Most of what's going into this project is American-made — including all 124 solar panels and the steel for the mounting structure. That earns Humboldt the Domestic Content bonus, lifting the federal tax credit from 30% to a full 40% of project value.

Equipment is already on order. Construction starts as soon as Evergy approves the interconnection.

Humboldt's water plant is going solar. The City Council unanimously approved 124 panels behind the building on Monday - projected to save the city $309,000 in energy costs across the system's 25–30 year life. Big thanks to Susan Lynn and the Iola Register for the coverage.
