PopUp 205ST Series Flip-Over Gooseneck Hitch – 30K & 45K GTW
Upgrade your heavy-duty towing with the PopUp 205ST Series Flip-Over Gooseneck Hitch, engineered for the toughest jobs. Built for semi tractors and cab & chassis trucks with 34" wide truck frames, this hitch is designed for maximum strength, durability, and convenience.
With your choice of 30,000 lbs or 45,000 lbs Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) ratings, the 205ST gives you the confidence to haul even the heaviest loads safely. The innovative Flip-Over ball design lets you quickly flip the gooseneck ball out of the way, leaving you a flat, unobstructed truck bed when not in use.
Key Features:
• Fits 34" wide truck frames commonly found on semi tractors & cab & chassis trucks
• Available in 30K or 45K GTW ratings for heavy-duty towing performance
• Flip-Over gooseneck ball stores out of the way for a clean, flat bed surface
• Built with PopUp’s American-made quality and reliability
• Easy to operate, durable, and low-maintenance
• 205ST Tall Version – Extra Clearance When You Need It
The 205ST Tall model is designed 2" taller to provide extra clearance around truck components such as exhaust systems. Featuring a 2" tall channel that spaces the hitch 2" above the truck frame rails, this version offers the same 30K and 45K GTW ratings with added flexibility for custom installs.
Whether you’re pulling heavy equipment, trailers, or commercial loads, the PopUp 205ST delivers the strength and ease-of-use you can depend on.
Perfect for:
• Semi tractors
• Cab & chassis trucks
• Heavy equipment haulers
• Commercial towing applications

Attached are some examples of how to measure your truck and trailer to determine if you need and offset gooseneck coupler. These are some examples but can help you not have to go through the headache of breaking you back glass or other damage to the truck or trailer. You can purchase any of the PopUp Towing Products at www.popuphitch.com or call if you have any questions 620-431-9196

How to measure your truck and trailer to determine how much offset you need:
1. Know your truck bed length
• Short bed trucks (typically 6–6.5 ft) almost always need some kind of offset or slider.
• Long beds (8 ft) usually don’t, since they have enough clearance.
________________________________________
2. Measure from your truck’s hitch ball center to the back of the cab
• Drop a plumb line (or tape measure vertically) from the hitch ball.
• Measure forward to the closest point of the cab (usually the back glass).
• Write that number down — that’s your cab clearance distance.
________________________________________
3. Measure half the width of your trailer
• Find the overall width of your trailer (usually 96" or 102").
• Divide by 2 to get the radius (48"–51").
• This number represents how far the corner of your trailer will swing toward the cab in a tight jackknife.
________________________________________
4. Do the clearance math
Take this formula:
(Cab clearance distance) – (Half trailer width) = Needed offset (in inches)
• If the result is positive, you already have clearance.
• If it’s negative, that’s how much extra offset you need from your coupler or adapter.
• Consider the placement of the receiver tube on the trailer.
________________________________________
5. Factor in trailer nose shape
• Rounded or tapered nose trailers need less offset.
• Square front or V-nose trailers usually need more.
________________________________________
6. Pick the right offset coupler
• Common offsets: 6", 9", 12", 16" (PopUp SB series).
• If your math shows you need at least 8", pick the 9".
• Always go up, not down — too much clearance is better than a broken back window.
Example: Short Bed Truck with a 102" Wide Trailer
Step 1. Truck bed length
• Let’s say you’ve got a 6.5 ft (78") bed.
Step 2. Measure cab clearance distance
• Measure from the hitch ball to the back of the cab window.
• Let’s say it’s 38".
Step 3. Half the trailer width
• Trailer width = 102".
• Half = 51".
This is how far the corner of the trailer will swing inward at a full jackknife.
Step 4. Do the clearance math
Formula:
Cab clearance–Half trailer width=Clearance balance\text{Cab clearance} – \text{Half trailer width} = \text{Clearance balance}Cab clearance–Half trailer width=Clearance balance
Plugging numbers in:
38"–51"=−13"38" – 51" = -13"38"–51"=−13"
That means the trailer will overlap the cab by 13" — not good.
Step 5. Choose an offset coupler
• You need at least 13" offset to prevent contact.
• Closest option is a 16" offset coupler (gives a safe margin).
________________________________________
✅ Result: With a 6.5 ft bed truck and a 102" wide trailer, you need a 16" offset coupler to comfortably avoid cab-to-trailer contact. Consider the placement of the receiver tube attached to the trailer.
Example: Short Bed Truck (6.5 ft bed) + 96" Wide Trailer
Step 1. Truck measurement
• Hitch ball to cab window = 38" (same as before).
Step 2. Half the trailer width
• Trailer width = 96".
• Half = 48".
Step 3. Do the clearance math
38"–48"=−10"38" – 48" = -10"38"–48"=−10"
That means the trailer will overlap the cab by 10 inches in a tight turn.
Step 4. Offset needed
• You need at least 10" offset.
• Closest safe option: 12" offset coupler.
________________________________________
✅ Result: With a 6.5 ft bed truck and a 96" wide trailer, you’d be fine with a 12" offset coupler. Account for the placement of the receiver tube on the trailer. This can effect clearance.
________________________________________
🔑 Takeaway:
• 102" wide trailer → 16" offset
• 96" wide trailer → 12" offset
• Wider trailers = more offset required.

Towing with a short bed truck can be tricky. Without the right clearance, your trailer nose can make contact with the truck cab on sharp turns. That’s why PopUp Towing Products manufactures the SB Series Offset Couplers — designed specifically to give you the space you need for safer, stress-free towing.
1. Choose the Right Offset Size
PopUp offers couplers in 6", 9", 12", and 16" offsets. For most short bed trucks, a 6" or 9" offset provides enough clearance. If you have a wider trailer nose or an extended cab truck, a 12" or 16" offset ensures maximum turning room.
2. Heavy-Duty Options for Bigger Loads
Our Heavy Duty SB couplers are rated at 30,000 lbs. GTWR, while standard offset couplers handle 24,000 lbs. GTWR. If you’re hauling heavy equipment or large trailers, the Heavy Duty option gives you confidence and capacity.
3. XL Models for Flatbed Trucks
For flatbed trucks with recessed hitch balls, PopUp offers XL offset couplers with a 4" extension, giving you both offset and the extra reach you need.
The Bottom Line
The right offset coupler protects your truck cab, improves turning clearance, and makes towing safer. With multiple sizes, heavy-duty ratings, and XL options, PopUp’s SB Series has a solution for every truck and trailer combination.
