This coming Saturday (Aug. 22), the New Hope Improvement Assoc. will be hosting a meet your neighbor social from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at station #1 on Whitfield Rd.
The event will include touch-a-truck and ice cream (preferably in that order😊).

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Tornado Warning for... Central Alamance County in central North Carolina... Southern Orange County in central North Carolina...

* Until 745 PM EDT.

* At 701 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Burlington, moving southeast at 30 mph.

There are currently reports of localized flooding in the area. Drive with caution and allow additional time for travel.

Heavy rain and possibly some severe weather pose a risk to central NC. Here are some key points:
1) A Flood Watch remains in effect for all of central NC through tonight. 2) The risk for heavy rainfall will continue across much of central NC today and possibly into tonight, as a couple of slow moving fronts move across the region. 3) Continuous rounds of showers and storms through the day will produce 2 to 4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts of 6+ inches (mainly across the Triangle area). 4) Scattered instances of flash flooding will be possible, with the greatest risk over the northeast Piedmont and northern and central Coastal Plain, including in the Triangle.

Canadian wildfires are sending smoke south and east across the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic states. There is a possibility that smoke may reach as far south as North Carolina.
Monitor local weather for air quality reports.
