I hope everybody is safe after Hurricane Helene.
As a Licensed public adjuster, here are recommendations if you have damage on your house.
1. If You or your neighbors had lightning, water, wind damage, Trees, siding, roof, or other property damage you probably have a claim.
3. Do not be a victim of business sales contractors or roofers. It’s an ideal time for inexperienced and scam people bargaining their service. These service providers will be out in force, USE COMMON SENSE BEFORE THEY CONDUCT WORK ON YOUR PROPERTY. Do not sign a contract without reading it, (some roofers/contractors will only put a new roof and will get all the insurance money, even other damage money they did not repair). Never give your deductible upfront to the contractor. Deductibles are always taken out of the claim settlement.
4. It can take days and/or weeks for insurance adjusters to visit YOUR property.
5. First stay safe! then, take a lot of pictures of your damage, inside and out.
6. Your Insurance policy requires you to stop and prevent further damage from occurring. (ie: tarp on roof, calk leaks etc..). Feel free to contact me for options.
7. Locate your FULL insurance policy (ask your agent) not just the dec page. Usually 20 or so pages. Determine if you are covered for your damage (in the fine print and endorsements). I can do a free policy review for you on a Zoom call.
8. IMPORTANT: a roofer/contractor/mitigation co, by state laws, can't negotiate directly with your insurance company, only a Licensed Public Adjuster (PA) can. They may claim they can, but you may find out too late that they couldn’t, and they disappear with your deposits or get you denied or get you a diminished settlement.
PAs can educate you, arbitrate for you, and negotiate your maximum settlement knowing your state Laws, interprete Policy Benefits and Exclusions. We will submit your claim on your behalf with the proper documents, photos and estimate.
As a Licensed PA, I will advise you for free on your options. You will never have any Out-Of-Pocket Payment(s) to our company, and no deposits. We are 100% contingent. We only get paid our fee when you get paid from your settlement.
Please contact me for advice during this stressful time, we help with stress too. We submit your claim to your insurance company. Doing it yourself can get you denied if you provide the wrong information or use the wrong words. (it happens on a regular basis).
We will never settle for less than what you legally deserve, and we statistically get you more, even after our fee than doing it yourself. Every Claim is case-by-case; restrictions and requirement shall apply, and there are no implied guarantees of settlement results from our claim services. Each claim depends on the insurance company to voluntarily act in a timely manner; we cannot force them because claim settlements take time to finalize; especially after a serious large storm.
