House Bill 191, introduced today, would eliminate the state Immunization Officer position. It would allow advanced practice nurses, in addition to doctors, to certify exemptions based on medical conditions. It would allow for religious exemptions, as well as exemptions based on ”conscientious or personal objection.”

Governor Justice throws state Senate under the bus, comes down squarely on the side of teachers. Interesting split in the Republican party. Justice says he would veto bill as it exists today. Can’t say I blame him - they left him, and every other WV education body, out of the process and have tried to cram a right wing think tank bill down everyone’s throats. No way to legislate.
