On this day in 1968, French sailor Bernard Moitessier left Plymouth to start the 1968 Sunday Times Golden Globe Race. He sailed aboard the 39ft steel ketch, Joshua and famously abandoned the race "to save his soul", and continued sailing, eventually making landfall in Tahiti on 21 June 1969.

Announcing Charleston’s Inaugural Full Moon Regatta!

Celebrate the last full moon of this summer on the water with us & Charleston Ocean Racing Association (CORA)! With inshore and offshore courses offered, there’s something for everyone.

Racing will start at 7 pm on Friday, August 28th, allowing racers to truly enjoy the magic of an evening sailing underneath the full moon.

A Full Moon Party & Awards Ceremony will take place the evening of Saturday, August 29th- more details coming soon, but suffice it to say it’ll be one you won’t want to miss!

“Mischief Managed” indeed! Congratulations to this beauty and her crew on a big Newport to Bermuda podium finish!

J/45 takes 2nd at the Newport Bermuda Race!🥈

The J/45 "Mischief Managed" finished 2nd in the prestigious Newport Bermuda Race, taking runner-up honors in the GH1 Class.
