Good morning friends and family! We hope your summer was awesome and the beginning of the school year has started off well!

Joe and I wanted to make a quick post going over a few things. I don’t think it comes to a surprise that this summer has been exceptionally brutal. This July was the fourth hottest on record in Charleston history. With that, bugs have been exceedingly active!

We understand that no one wants to see bugs in and around their property. However, with the weather being what it is, there is no way to get a 100% reduction. That is unrealistic even under perfect weather conditions in Charleston. Charleston is a subtropical environment in which insects and rodents thrive!

Also, this is why it’s called pest control and not pest elimination. We try our best to keep your home and business pest free, but unfortunately, sometimes they will find their way in.

There are multiple ways for insects and rodents find their way in. Through cracks and crevices not sealed, doors/windows being left open, yards not being maintained, packages being brought in from Amazon, ups, fedex, etc., guests staying at your home, etc.

Again, we understand that having insects inside is something none of us want. However, we need to have realistic expectations of where we live and the time of year it is. So, Joe and I are simply asking for some grace as we try our absolute best to keep your home/business as pest free as we can.

As always, please reach out to either of us if you have any questions. Thanks you for your continued support of our small business and as always, thank you for being the best part of our business! God bless and have a great day!

v/r,

Derik and Joe

Good afternoon all! We wanted to take a second on this Memorial Day to pause and remember and honor those service men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us to live in this free country! Our prayers and sincerest thanks go out to the families of these service members. As we laugh, grill, swim, and spend time with our loved ones today, take a moment to pause, look out at the ocean, the lake, look at your kids running around, laughing, playing, and quietly, sincerely say thank you for their sacrifice. Without the sacrifice and blood of these warriors, today and every other day could look much different. So, again, thank you for your sacrifice and loving this country and freedom enough that you would give your life for ours!

Very Respectfully,

Grateful Americans

Good afternoon LCPS friends and family! We know that many of you woke up this morning to find these guys around your home or business. We have received many calls already this morning with panic and concern. Just a few things to know. Yes, unfortunately, they are termites. However, just because you saw them does not mean you have them. When termites swarm outside, they crash into and search whatever it is they come into contact with. If they do not find a water source soon after they lose their wings, they will DIE! However, if they find a source of damp cellulose material, that could be a problem.

So, a few things we can do to make ourselves a hard target. First, shut off all exterior lighting. Just like all flying insects, termites are attracted to light. Second, draw blinds and curtains of a night time. This will help keep interior illumination from enticing these unwanted pests. Third, keep the lights off near windows and shut off as many lights as possible. Instead of having every light in the house on, turn on the desk lamp, or light on the range hood over the oven. Lastly, inspect your home for leaks, damp wood, and disrepair. When termites land, this is what they are looking for. If your soffits/facia are wet and decaying, repair them. If you have a roof leak and the roof decking is damp, repair it! Wood piles near or around the house? get those away from the structure. Formosan termites can cause an aerial infestation, meaning they don’t have to come from the ground. A swarming termite and turn into a queen and start a colony in your attic.

We hope these reminders will help answer some questions and help put your minds to ease. As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Stay safe, see you around, and have a blessed day!
