Today, September 20th is National Voter Registration Day. Please take the time to confirm and or complete your voter registration.

"There's a lot at stake in the upcoming midterm elections. Americans will elect all 435 members of the House of Representatives, one-third of the Senate, and countless elected officials in local and state governments.

So much of our daily life is impacted by the decisions of those we'll soon elect. Decisions that impact our environment, policing in our communities, funding for our schools, judges in our courts, access to affordable health care, and our ability to make our own reproductive decisions. And they start at the ballot box."

We help you vote, no matter what. Sign up for election reminders and get help with voter registration and voting by mail — all in one place!

Cigar factory and hospital workers strikes are my example of “fighting for fair labor practices” right here in Charleston, South Carolina. History needs to recognize and celebrate these “Movements by the People”

Today we celebrate Labor Day and recognize all of the contributions that workers have made to our society. The idea of "Labor Day," a "workingman's holiday," originated during the Industrial Revolution. People of all backgrounds organized and protested poor and unsafe working conditions. Labor unions grew from this movement and started organizing and demanded better conditions for workers.

We have the labor movement to thank for our day off of work! Democrats up and down the ballot in South Carolina are working to improve the lives of working people across the state. From increasing the minimum wage and advocating for paid family leave to providing affordable and accessible healthcare, Democrats are ready to implement these essential policies to improve the lives of all South Carolinians.

The International African American Museum drew me home. This is a dream dreamed decades before meetings were held and funds were raised!

Thanks to our friends at Charleston Waterkeeper for sharing this perspective of the museum’s construction from the Charleston Harbor. 🏗

Set to open at 2022, the museum is being constructed at the historic site of Gadsden’s Wharf, located directly on the Charleston waterfront.
