From our friends at the Recycling Partnership. Chip bags are not recyclable in standard curbside recycling programs, including Clark County. They are made of multiple micro-layers of fused plastic and aluminum to keep snacks fresh. Because these materials are bonded together with adhesives, they cannot be separated by recycling processing facilities. However, TerraCycle will recycle them. Visit their website: www.terracycle.com

CCRD recycles electronics through Technology Recyclers (TR) of Indianapolis. TR maintains a zero-landfill or near-zero-landfill policy. They recover and refine valuable raw materials like steel, copper, gold, and aluminum from old electronics so those items can be reintroduced to the manufacturing market, rather than ending up in a landfill.

Many electronics contain hazardous materials that can harm the environment if placed in landfills. Recycling helps keep these materials out of our soil and water.

TR is R2 and RIOS certified, meeting strict standards for environmental protection, worker safety, and secure data destruction. The cost to recycle electronics is 45 cents/per lb. at CCRD. Metal appliances, e.g., washers, dishwashers, water heaters, toasters, are free.
