We’ve got a list of 28 ways to celebrate, you can view the first 5 here:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Feb. 1 – FAMILY FIRST: IMPRINT YOUR FAMILY STORY: This family workshop at the Harvey B. Gantt Center will explore the meaning of African symbols like Adinkra and Kente patterns. Participants will then create a personalized symbol that reflects their own values and family story. Registration is $10.

🖼️Feb. 2 – MUSEUM ON US: Visit the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Culture & Heritage and present a Bank of American credit, debit, or employee card for entry at no cost. The Gantt offers Black art, culture and history all in one space.

🎤Feb. 3 – ADELE GIVENS: Adele’s bold style of comedy will be on display at the Comedy Zone. Tickets are as low as $33.

🧬Feb. 4 – GENEOLOGY BASICS: AFRICAN AMERICAN ROOTS AND RESOURCES: Learn the basics of genealogy at this event, and discover resources to begin tracing your family’s roots and connect with your heritage. Registration is free.

📦Feb. 5 – MEAL - PACKING IN THE WEST END: Register to help prepare, pack and distribute meals for seniors in the Beatties Ford corridor as part of a Black History Month volunteer event. You can find the registration in our article.

🌟 Celebrating World Autism Month: Embracing Inclusion for Individuals with Hidden Disabilities 🌟

As World Autism Month begins, I’m reminded of the importance of fostering a workplace culture that celebrates diversity in all its forms. As an autism advocate and proud aunt to an extraordinary individual with autism, inclusion has always been close to my heart. It’s essential to remember that diversity, equity, and inclusion extend far beyond race and gender; they encompass a myriad of identities and experiences, including hidden disabilities.

I am thrilled to share that I have recently completed the Leading Organizational Impact program at the Center for Creative Leadership. This experience was both challenging and enlightening, pushing me to new levels of personal and professional growth.

Through the program, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of myself as a leader and learn valuable skills that will help me make a positive impact within my organization. I am grateful for the guidance and support of my facilitators, who helped me navigate through the challenges and push me towards greatness.

I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to my classmates, who provided valuable insights and perspectives that enriched the learning experience. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow alongside such talented and inspiring individuals.

I am excited to take the lessons and skills I have gained from this program and apply them in my role to drive meaningful change and create a positive impact within my organization. Thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey. I am excited for what the future holds.
