Mental illness carries more than symptoms…it carries shame, judgement, comparisons, and stigma.
When I was deep in it, somewhere in me knew I’d make it through. I thought: “someday I’ll be able to share this story.”
And I have. But often it feels like being in the wrong room. People judge harder. They outcast you. They say it’s “too much.”
This isn’t about being “different.” It’s about showing what’s possible. Ten years of active psychosis. Seven years no medication. And still here…building, creating, leading.
Dating is difficult. S**t interacting can be difficult. Therapy teaches us to challenge distorted thoughts, but society rarely puts its own assumptions on trial. People celebrate cancer remission with compassion. But with mental health recovery, people question, minimize, or fear it.
The truth: people with mental health conditions never asked for it. It’s an internal and external battle every day. And despite it all, many of us do find a way forward.
That’s why I need bigger platforms. Not to spotlight me…but to spotlight a different possibility. To remind people that mental illness isn’t the end of the story.
It can be the beginning of a new one. Help me share this. People need it more than you may know.
