I had the opportunity to present a workshop at WGS South Conference at Wake Forest University on job loss, resilience, and community.
One of the most meaningful parts of the session was hearing participants reflect on their own experiences - particularly the opportunity to identify their skills, reframe their professional stories, and think intentionally about support systems.
What I heard in the room; something we don’t often say out loud, was a shared sense of vulnerability and concern about the shifting landscape of work.
Beneath the surface, people are asking:
What is stable? What is next? And how do I move forward in the midst of all this change?
What stood out to me is that many of the experiences we often interpret as setbacks are actually evidence of capacity - skills, leadership, and resilience that are often unrecognized.
Even in moments of transition, there is space to reclaim value, reconnect with community, and move forward with intention.
