The Augusta, Georgia Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America was established in 2001 with the goal of uniting people together throughout the Central Savannah River Area who had an interest in gold prospecting.

The Southeast Gold Prospectors Expo will be held May 14-16, 2027 at LDMA Vein Mountain which is nestled in the tranquil wooded setting of Nebo, North Carolina. The property features gold-bearing quartz veins, alluvial gravels, and soft bedrock. It is the ideal camp for a weekend getaways featuring RV hookups (30 amp, water), clubhouse, designated prospecting areas, and more. Owned by LDMA (Lost Dutchman’s Mining Association).

Topics we discussed:
• Rob Mitchum gave a presentation about his recent experience attending the Dirt Party at LDMA Oconee Camp.
• We gave a recap of the new season of Gold Rush.
• Discussed Rick Harrison’s (of Pawn Stars) recent investment in a gold mine in Nevada.
• Discussed the recent dig at Graves Mountain and the history behind the property. Andrés gave a recap of his experience being a vendor at the event.
• Discussed our chapter’s involvement in Putt-Putt’s upcoming Trunk-Or-Treat event on Thursday, October 22 from 5-7pm. This will be a great family friendly event.
