The devastation in the western part of NC, SC, GA, TN, and others is impossible to understand and comprehend. Winter will be here sooner than we realize and these people need help. Help rebuilding, help with basic supplies that we take for granted everyday. Consider giving to efforts that are directly impacting the community. Any and all donations help.

Along with Samaritan's Purse, I have contributed here.

I cried last night. Some of my tears were of sheer gratitude, others for the loss and devastation that people are experiencing just an hour or so west of me.

As a Florida girl who lived there for 20 years, hearing that a tropical storm was heading towards North Carolina didn't worry me much. Normally, storms this far inland are dying down. But seeing Hurricane Helene take a turn towards the mountains was something I still cannot put into words.

The devastation is heartbreaking. Towns gone. People, pets, livestock lost. Roads and bridges washed away or destroyed.
Before I lived in Florida I resided in Virginia. My house was nestled between the Appalachian and Blue Ridge mountains. It was beautiful, serene, and just amazing. When winter came we were always nervous about storms that would come over the mountain because they often would not have enough force to move over the next, and our town would be pummeled with snow. Our neighbors in Northern Virginia, less than 60 miles from us would only get a few inches.

Where our house was road services would not come clear our path, it was up to our neighbors to get out, help one another and serve each other to dig our way to the main road.

We lived just a few miles from West Virginia. I have been on those mountain roads built on the side of the mountain. The bridges that are secure but are bringing you passage over the river. How cell service would easily dissipate due to the lack of towers and the way the mountains were formed.

Even in all our wisdom and technology, we cannot beat nature. It will forever do exactly as it wants.

The people in these affected areas need:

‣ Our help
‣ Our prayers
‣ Our resources
‣ Most of all, our kindness

I cannot fathom the thoughts of those who would say this was God's doing to wipe out people who don't believe as they do, or that anyone deserved this. I cannot understand complaints about vacation refunds when entire locations no longer exist.

I do not understand this world sometimes.

But gratitude, it changes things.

I am so grateful that the storm did not hit us. I am grateful that I have the ability to help. I am grateful that my family is safe and we are not facing total loss. The storm could have easily devastated my town.

I am grateful for the men and women on the scene doing anything they can to help.

If you can consider donating today to the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Save the Children, Samaritan’s Purse, or any other organization that you choose to. It does not have to be monetary. Consider donating your time, your possessions. Even your local organizations can use your help regardless of where you live.

When you can, stop and pray for those effected.

While you can, take a moment to be grateful for all that you have. Hug those close to you, love those in your life, and treat people with the compassion and care you would want to receive if this was you.

In hope and prayer, 💖

𝓑𝓮 𝓚𝓲𝓷𝓭.

I've said those words at least a thousand times this past year. It's a simple concept, isn't it? Don't say or do anything to anyone that you wouldn't want said or done to you. Just be kind.

✨Think before you speak (or type).
✨ Pause before you respond and react.

That's the easy stuff. But being kind... it's so much deeper than that. It's incredibly powerful.

Often, we talk ourselves out of kind gestures. We have a thought:

🎁Maybe I should send them a gift
📧Perhaps I should email or text them
🎼I could share a song or Scripture verse with them

Why don't we follow through? We might think it won't make a difference. Or we worry they'll think we're weird or won't acknowledge the gesture.

None of that matters.

Here's what I know: People don't need the thing (words, gift, text, etc.) you're giving them as much as they need the 𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 of knowing you were thinking about them.

In our world of so many people, it's easy to feel alone. That text, that gift, that kind gesture... you may actually change the trajectory of someone's day. Maybe even their life.

We don't really know what people are going through at any given time. But I believe that if we act on our thoughts of kindness and make them deeds of kindness... well, the entire world would be a better place.

In my upcoming 𝐔𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 program, we'll dive deeper into how kindness is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). It's a reflection of God's character in us. When we choose kindness, we're not just improving someone's day - we're demonstrating God's love in a tangible way.

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." (Ephesians 4:32)

Kindness is a choice. It's a strength, not a weakness. It's a way to build unshakable relationships and communities. Today, choose to be kind. You never know how your small act of kindness might impact someone's world.

What act of kindness have you been putting off? How can you make kindness a more intentional part of your day? Drop a comment below. ⬇️

In hope. 🙏💖

Life has a funny way of teaching us lessons, doesn't it?

The other day, I was on my usual morning walk - you know, the one where I'm that woman in the Panthers cap, headphones on, probably singing a bit too loudly and definitely talking back to my podcast. I'm sure I'm quite the sight for my neighbors!

As I was strolling down this familiar path, lost in my own world, BAM! 💥A low-hanging branch caught me right in the face. Laughing it off (and shaking off the rainwater), I kept going... only to walk into another branch seconds later!

Now, the old me would have been mortified. I might have used this as an excuse to give up on my walks altogether. But something's changed in me, and I didn't even realize it until that moment.

You see, I've been doing this work on myself for a while now. Taking small steps, making little choices each day. And somehow, without even noticing, I've made incredible progress.

That's the thing about personal growth - it often happens so gradually that we don't see it until we're faced with a challenge. And there I was, laughing off my clumsiness instead of letting it derail me.

I've learned that:

💫 Each step forward makes the next one easier.
💫 Setting one boundary makes it simpler to set the next.
💫 Saying yes to myself becomes more natural with practice.
💫 Forgiveness truly does bring freedom.
💫 Choosing peace over chaos invites more calm into my life.

All these small choices and steps have built something wonderful - a foundation that helps me stand strong when life throws its curveballs (or branches).

I may never outgrow being a bit of a klutz, but I can tell you this: the woman I am today is strong, clear-minded, at peace, and genuinely enjoying life - unexpected branches and all.

So here's to progress, no matter how small or ungraceful. Here's to laughing at ourselves and keeping on, even when we stumble.

Because every step forward is a victory, and you never know how far you've come until life gives you a chance to see it.

Soul Glow-Up 💥

I used to work at a place hyped on "Transformation Tuesday" - flaunting pics of women's physical glow-ups over time. All about the outer bodily vibes, not the inner work. 💯 While I'm not knocking getting your fitness on, something deeper felt missing to me. A soul connection.

Because true lasting transformation? It radiates from that soul-yearning inside us. A sense that something is incomplete, off. We might not admit it, but we crave more richness within.

In this social media era, surface-level glow-ups are easy. We become masters at curating our persona, image, perceived lifestyle . But behind the pretty masks? Parts of us still feel dimly lit, yearning for greater fulfillment.

Authentic growth starts internally - by asking ourselves why we truly want to evolve. What elevated version are we craving to become, and for what deeper purpose? How will this solve what's missing in our lives? Getting clear on our core intentions is 🔑

Once we tune into those soul-callings, the outer transformations naturally bloom from that sacred space. True metamorphosis sparks first in the heart and mind. And this Mental Health Awareness Month is a vibe check - what internal glow-ups could you pursue for a healthier sense of self?

Are there unconscious blocks keeping you from fully committing - to your wellbeing, relationships, career leaps? An unexplainable void you can't name? Maybe the missing piece is looking inward, not out, for your next level.

As Romans 12:2 guides: "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind." When we transform from the inside first, our outsides align in radiance.

So let's celebrate not just body goals this year, but whole soul awakening glow-ups. What deep callings are you finally answering for your rebirth? The world is waiting for you to radiate that signature soul fire. 🔥

I do have a fondness for the name Abigail 💖 🌹

There isn’t much about her in the Bible but her story is one of great importance.

It speaks to being strong when we are in impossible situations, doing the right thing when everything is wrong, and taking chances.

Abigail was married to Nabal. We are told he is surly and mean in his dealings with others. To summarize the story, King David asks Nabal to provide his men with food and water, and Nabal insults them. This leads to other issues, and it seems bloodshed is imminent. A servant tells Abigail what is happening, and she quickly goes to King David with the supplies he needs begging for his mercy. Which he grants. About 2 weeks later, Nabal dies, and Abigail becomes King David’s wife.

The reason I love Abigail is that she didn’t stop to think about herself in this situation, she just acted. She didn’t think about what her husband may say or do, she took a chance.

She knew that she had the ability to help but she had to take action immediately.

Abigail is a reminder that sometimes we need to stop thinking about the what ifs, the whys, the hows and just do the thing we know we are supposed to do.

When Esther was trying to decide whether or not to go forward her uncle told her that she was born for such a time as this. We often miss the other half of that statement. He begins by telling her that if she chooses to remain silent, to not act; that relief will come from another place. But she needed to know that she was born for such a time as this.

Often I think that we are afraid to act because of what others will think, because of what clients may think, friends, family, acquaintances, and even people we only know through the lens of social media. I believe that we don’t act because we get stuck in our own heads worried about what may happen if we do that thing that is a little dangerous, a little hard.

But, what if we do?

I can’t promise you success in every situation, but I can promise you more success than you are having by not acting. As long as you are moving forward, as long as you are learning in the process; that my friend is a success.

So maybe we should be more like Abigail, not really caring what our inner circle thinks. Taking chances when we need to because we know it is the right thing to do. Maybe when we see a need, and we know we have the ability to help we should act on it.

Then others can see us. Hear us.

And maybe help a little too.

I once had a boss tell me that people who worked from home didn’t REALLY work, not like she did.

Her belief was that they watched TV, did laundry, cared for their kids and maybe when all was said and done worked about 2-3 REAL hours a day. Ironically this same boss came in around 11 and left by 4, if she came in at all.

As a small business owner who works from home, I can tell you this… yes I work HARD everyday, all day. Sure there is some freedom from working at home, but it is no different than running an errand during the work day, or chatting over coffee with co-workers.

Work ethic is determined by the individual, not their environment.

I started around 8am this morning.. just before my coffee and first of several meetings today.

Yes, I may have ran the dishwasher and thrown in a load of laundry, but I used to do that before my work day when I left for the office each day.

The point is this… my working from home doesn’t look much different than my working in an office. In fact I invest more time, as I don’t have a daily commute.

To those of us running businesses from home, or working remotely from home for a business…

✨ take pride in your appearance,
✨ put your best foot forward each day,
✨ work with integrity and intent, and
✨never let anyone treat you as less than for your choice to work at home.

To those with remote workers… thank them, invest in them and check in on them. Working remotely is a lot harder than it looks.

One more time:

Work ethic is determined by the individual, not their environment. 💖

Confession…. I watch the same stuff repeatedly.

Usually, I am wrapped up in the characters or storyline. Sometimes I completely miss or forget parts of the story. I know how the story ends yet will often forget so many of the details.

It doesn’t matter how many times I rewatch a show, I ALWAYS see something new, a nuance I missed before OR that came to play a major part later in the story. A foreshadowing of things to come.

I have always had this need to dig deeper and understand things at a different level. This plays a key role into the type of leader I have become.

When I am working with a person or a project, I am not so quick to draw an instant conclusion on the story being presented in front of me. I take my time to learn who the person is, watch the project develop, see how things play out. I take time to dig in.

Digging in requires patience and it requires an investment into the person, project, situation with an openness to understand and learn all you can before drawing a conclusion. Digging in takes time.

When you dig in with your team, you can...

🌟 learn their story (reason, goals, purpose) and understand more

🌟 develop an open dialogue

🌟 work on their character (personal) development with them, areas for growth

🌟 sense habits or behaviors that are a foreshadowing of future issues (or successes)

🌟 create an atmosphere of collaboration

Any of these things will bring success to your team, your projects, your businesses. But, my favorite part about digging in, is sometimes you can create change.

Just by...

🌟 paying closer attention

🌟 watching and listening

🌟 showing kindness and grace

🌟 engaging in a meaningful way

All these things that can change the course of a life, things that can make a difference.

In my own life there have been those that took time, dug in and paid attention. People that understood the patterns of my life did not equal my outcome. People that showed me kindness and a new ending for my story. A life forever changed.

May we all learn to dig in and help others change the stories of their lives, through our patience, our kindness, our compassion, and our willingness to dig in. 👣
