If you're still tracking new leads in a notebook, a spreadsheet, or somebody's inbox, this one's for you.

A CRM sounds like a complicated piece of software, but it just stands for customer relationship management. It's the system that keeps a record of every person who's ever shown interest in your business, when they reached out, what they asked about, and whether anyone actually followed up with them.

Without one, leads live wherever the person who took the call happened to write them down, and they get forgotten the moment that person gets busy. With one, you can actually see which leads turn into customers instead of guessing at what's working in your small business marketing.

You do not need anything fancy to start. Even a simple, low cost CRM beats a notebook that only one person can read.

Save this if you've been meaning to get your leads out of a notebook and into an actual system.

Six weeks of posts, and it all comes back to the same five things I stand behind as a fractional CMO who's built and sold two agencies.

Marketing is not magic. It's a system built out of your offer, how you get people to see it, and what happens after someone raises their hand. Capture the customers already looking for you before spending money to create new interest.

A high view count doesn't mean people are buying, and a cheap lead isn't actually cheap if none of those leads ever close. You should always own your ad accounts, your customer data, and your follow up system, with no exceptions. And a boring, profitable business beats a flashy one that can't keep up with its own orders, every single time.

If any of this sounds like what your business needs, comment the word MARKETING below for a free, no pressure conversation.

Apparently Paid Ads have a $5M revenue cover charge now.

If people are already searching for what you sell, you don’t need to become an influencer first. You need to show up, make a good offer, track what happens, and know your numbers.

Arbitrary revenue thresholds make great rage bait. Terrible marketing advice.

Never waste money on Meta Ads when there is demand sitting there on Google waiting for you to show up.

BUT, you need an effective landing page once those potential customers click your ad - these guys needed a better one.

I think this new page is going to crush it for them, what do you think?

RIP Unwell 🥤

Turns out millions of followers can get you attention… but they can’t manufacture demand.

And naming a wellness drink Unwell probably didn’t help 😂

Search rankings, ads, your website, and your follow up system are not four separate problems. They're one connected system, and most small businesses are running them like four different vendors who never talk to each other.

Search rankings and content bring people in for free, over time, and they also tell you what people actually care about. Ads bring people in faster, but you're paying for every single visitor. Your follow up system decides whether either one of those ever actually turns into a paying customer.

Most businesses treat these as separate departments instead of one connected plan, and that disconnect is exactly where leads go to die.

If I ran the marketing for this YMCA, here’s where I’d start 👀

Google first. Capture the demand that’s already there. Meta comes later.

More of your future customers are starting their research inside an AI chat tool instead of typing directly into Google, and that's a real shift small business owners should pay attention to.

This doesn't mean search engines stop mattering. It means being found now includes showing up as an actual answer inside these AI tools, not just as a link on a results page. If your website content only exists to rank on a search results page, you're now only covering half of how people actually find businesses.

Content that clearly answers a real question a customer is asking performs well in both places. Content stuffed with keywords for a search algorithm performs poorly in both places now. Write for the person asking the question, not for the algorithm.

Follow for more breakdowns on where marketing is actually headed, without the panic.

TRTMD Health Clinic came to me with a Google Ads account nobody trusted anymore.

Their previous marketing company had wasted ad spend, results had stopped improving, and nobody could explain why or how to fix it. That's a common story for healthcare businesses that get burned by an agency before they ever work with me.

We rebuilt everything from the ground up. That meant fixing how conversions were tracked, connecting their customer system to their ads correctly, and rebuilding their entire Google Ads account structure so every decision had real data behind it. Only once we could see what was actually working did we scale their ad spend, because by then we had proof behind every dollar.

The results speak for themselves. Conversions went up 342 percent. Their conversion rate passed 5 percent. Cost per conversion dropped 60 percent. TRTMD scaled all the way to 25,000 dollars a month in ad spend while cutting out the low intent traffic that was wasting money before we started.

If your Google Ads account feels like it's costing you more than it's making you, comment the word MARKETING below for a free conversation about what's actually going on.
