People ask me all the time
“How do I figure out what I want to do next?”

And the truth is
you don’t start with the job

You start with your life

How do you want your mornings to feel
Do you want to take your kids to school
Have slow starts
Build something of your own
Be more present with your family

Most people skip this part
They jump straight into job titles and applications

But if you don’t get clear on your life
you’ll keep choosing roles that don’t fit it

At some point
you have to sit with yourself
and actually think

If you’re in that place right now
start there before you start applying

You don’t have an experience problem. You have an evidence problem.

I’ve sat in too many hiring conversations where someone says, “I’m not seeing the impact…”

And that’s it. No debate. No deep dive. They just move on.

Meanwhile… you’re sitting there with 15, 20 years of experience thinking it should be obvious.

It’s not obvious.

If your resume doesn’t clearly show: what you owned what changed because of you and why it mattered

you don’t come across as senior. You come across as… unclear.

And unclear doesn’t get interviews.

Your resume isn’t a list of responsibilities. It’s your argument.

If the impact isn’t undeniable, you’re making it too easy to skip you.

If you want to know what’s not landing go get the Career Positioning Diagnostic. (Shoot me a DM)

I’ve sat in hiring debriefs where someone said, “The best candidates already have jobs.”

And everyone just… nodded.

I’ve heard people side-eye strong candidates just because they were laid off.

No context. No questions.Just assumptions.

Meanwhile, I’m sitting there thinking, do you know how many high performers got caught in someone else’s budget cut?

But this is how it works.

Decisions get made fast. And once a story forms, it sticks.

So if your resume is leaving room for interpretation, they will fill in the blanks.

Not always fairly.

That’s why this isn’t just about your experience. It’s about how clearly your experience translates to someone who doesn’t know you.

That’s exactly what I break down in the Career Positioning Diagnostic.

Because if your story isn’t landing the right way…you deserve to know why.

If your resume looks great but you’re still not getting interviews, read this.

AI made resumes easier to write.

That’s not the problem.

The problem is that when everyone uses the same tools, resumes start to look the same.

Same verbs. Same structure. Same polished language.

And when everything looks polished, the real question becomes:

What actually makes someone stand out?

From the recruiter side, a resume has never just been about the bullets.

We’re reading for patterns.

Career progression. Scope of responsibility. Decision-making authority. How clearly someone communicates their impact.

AI can help people write sentences.

But it cannot fix an unclear career narrative.

And that’s where a lot of professionals are getting stuck right now.

They’ve done everything they were told to do.
Updated the resume. Used AI. Applied to roles that make sense.

And they’re still not getting traction.

At that point the issue usually isn’t effort.

It’s positioning.

If you feel like something in your job search isn’t landing the way it should, the Career Positioning Diagnostic is designed to uncover exactly where the signal is getting lost.

You can DM me DIAGNOSTIC and I’ll send the details.

If you’re making it to interviews but not landing offers consistently, it’s rarely random.

There’s usually a pattern.

DM “DIAGNOSTIC” and we’ll look at it clearly.

I see this come up a lot in interviews, especially lately.

Most people don’t quit the job search because they’re unqualified. They quit because the process starts to feel unclear, slow, or unfair.

And that frustration is real.

What rarely gets explained is that long interview processes aren’t about hoops. They’re about risk.

Every interview round is answering a different question. Most candidates never pause to ask what that question actually is.

So they prepare harder.
They rehearse answers.
They perform.

And still miss the decision being made in the room.

When you understand what’s actually being evaluated, interviews stop feeling exhausting. They start feeling navigable.

That shift has nothing to do with confidence. It has everything to do with clarity.

If interviews keep stalling, stretching out, or quietly ending, there’s usually a missing layer of clarity, not effort.

The Career Diagnostic exists to surface that.

Long interview processes feel exhausting when you don’t know what they’re actually testing.

Your frustration makes sense.
Interviewing is emotional. It’s time-consuming. It asks a lot.

But hiring isn’t casual.
Getting it wrong costs far more than getting it right slowly.

Especially as roles get more senior, interview rounds aren’t about keeping you busy.
They’re about reducing risk.

When you understand what each round is designed to evaluate, the process stops feeling personal — and starts making sense.

Save this for the next time an interview process starts to feel personal.
