Proud to stand alongside the other sponsors making the Global Africa Summit Charlotte possible. Real leadership development doesn't happen in a vacuum — it happens in rooms full of people building something bigger than themselves, which is exactly what this Summit is doing for Charlotte.

Grateful to the Africa Investment Network for the shoutout. See you September 8–10 at The Westin Charlotte.

One of the most common, most painful patterns in organizations: someone is exceptional at their job, so you promote them into leading the people who do it. A year later, they're struggling, the team dynamic is off, and everyone's trying to figure out what went wrong.

This week Jossalyn names the real issue: being great at a job and being great at leading the people who do that job are two completely different skill sets — and most organizations prepare people for the first, never the second. The promotion was right. The support wasn't there.

Before your next promotion, ask what that person will actually need to lead, not just perform — and whether you're actually going to give it to them.

If your organization needs to build that kind of support into how you promote people, Springwell can help. Let's talk.

Every organization has more good ideas than it knows what to do with. What separates the ones that actually move is a much smaller list: the ideas somebody was willing to turn into a plan, a deadline, and a first step.

If your team's strategy sessions produce more ideas than action, that's not a creativity problem — it's an ex*****on one.

Ready to turn your next good idea into something that actually happens? Let's get started.

A captain's skill is invisible when the flight is smooth. Nobody notices competent leadership until turbulence hits, the cabin gets tense, and the whole plane needs someone to sound certain about what happens next.

In this clip, former Nissan and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn makes the case that leadership isn't proven in comfortable conditions — it's forged in crisis. Its real value shows up exactly when a system is under existential pressure and people need clarity, not perfection.

At Springwell & Associates, we help leadership teams build that kind of steadiness before the turbulence hits, not during it. If your team needs to be ready for the moments that actually test leadership, let's talk.

Q4 planning season is here. Before the calendar fills up with deadlines, these are the questions worth sitting with as a team.

Which one is your team avoiding this year?

Nobody really talks about this one: what do you do when you're the leader, and you're the one having a hard week? Not a crisis — just tired, distracted, running on low, but still expected to make the decisions and hold space for everyone else's problems.

This week Jossalyn makes the case for one simple sentence instead of pretending everything's fine: "Today I'm going to be a little quieter. I'm working through something — and it has nothing to do with you." That one line stops your team from spending the day guessing what they did wrong.

Try it the next time you're walking into a room running on empty, and watch how much lighter it gets.

If your leadership team needs to build that kind of honest self-awareness, Springwell can help. Reach out and let's start that conversation.

Every Q4 planning cycle eventually produces a familiar problem: too many priorities competing for the same limited time and attention.

The teams that handle it well don't try to protect everything — they protect the one or two things that would actually hurt to lose.

As you look toward Q4, what's the one priority you're protecting no matter what else comes up?

If your team's priority list needs an honest edit before the quarter starts, Springwell can help you make it. Reach out and let's talk.

Psychological safety gets misunderstood constantly — people hear it and think "be nice to each other," which isn't it at all.

As Amy Edmondson puts it: "Psychological safety is not about being nice. It's about giving candid feedback, openly admitting mistakes, and learning from each other."

That's a much higher bar than niceness. It means your team can tell you the plan won't work, admit when they got it wrong, and use both to actually get better — without worrying what happens to them next.

At Springwell & Associates, we help leadership teams build that kind of safety on purpose. If your team confuses "nice" with "safe," let's talk.

Somewhere along the way, leadership got confused with certainty — like the moment you don't have an answer, you've lost the room. So people fake it: nodding like they already know, answering faster than they should, just to look sure.

This week Stacey makes the case for a different sentence entirely: "I don't know yet, but here's how we'll find out." Certainty isn't the job. Clarity of process is — and that one sentence tends to build more trust than a confident guess ever does.

If your leadership team could use more of that kind of honesty, Springwell can help. Reach out and let's start that conversation.
