🔋 Did you know that 99% of Americans use a lithium-powered device every day?

From smartphones and laptops to power tools and electric vehicles, lithium batteries are part of our everyday lives. But when those batteries reach the end of their life, many people aren't sure what to do with them.

Today, Cirba Solutions is proud to release our new research report, The Missing Link: Consumer Awareness in the Battery Life Cycle, which explores how Americans think about battery recycling and where opportunities exist to make it easier.

The findings show consumers want to recycle—but they need enhanced education, greater access, and more convenient recycling options.

Every battery recycled helps recover valuable critical minerals that can be used to manufacture new batteries, strengthening domestic supply chains and national security and supporting the future of American manufacturing.

Did you know that North America produces the third largest volume of end-of-life batteries in the world?

We take immense pride in partnering with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to implement working sessions across the nation to spread knowledge and awareness about battery recycling.

“Partnerships between both the government and private sector are absolutely crucial during the time of evolution of battery recycling and sustainability,” said Danielle Spalding, VP, Communications & Public Affairs at Cirba Solutions.

These sessions will encompass broader discussions on consumer electric and portable batteries, as well as more focused conversations pertaining to vehicles, energy storage, and industrial applications.

Happy National ‘Stick to Your New Year's Resolution’ Day!

This year, let's make a resolution that's not only good for you, but for our planet too!

♻️ Battery recycling helps keep hazardous materials out of landfills!

🔋 Used batteries can be recycled to create new batteries, reducing the need for mining.

🌱 By recycling batteries, you're helping to prevent soil and water pollution.

To help you stick to your resolution, regularly check and collect used batteries from your devices, create a designated spot for them in your home and encourage friends and family to recycle their batteries too!

At CES 2024, Danielle Spalding joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and had a chance to present Cirba Solutions’ role in the battery recycling sector and stress the importance of increased awareness and education about recycling.

We are proud to support the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's work around the development of practices for labeling and collection to increase the nation’s recycling of batteries.

With over 110 years of combined leadership experience in battery materials, we are looking forward to supporting these amazing efforts to close the battery supply chain loop and continuously strive for a sustainable future.
