Loving the Spectrum Why do we believe growth is possible for ourselves but impossible for the people we judge? We connect. Disconnect. Misunderstand. But we always grow. Autism. ADHD.

ℹ️🌿 THE OVERLAP OF ADHD AND PTSD: WHY THE BRAIN WORKS OVERTIME |

During all those years before I finally got the right diagnosis of PTSD and AuDHD, chronic failure was a painful part of my life, both privately and at work. I often lost my jobs and I struggled in relationships, all of this without knowing why.

Living in a society where everybody is always so fast and harsh judging you based on your professional career and performance, chronic failure without knowing why can break you. I spent years feeling ashamed of myself, until finally a doctor took the time to do the right tests. Hearing the words, ‘None of it was ever your fault,’ was more than a big relief for me.

One of his students found his modelling portfolio by accident and posted it online. That's how the rest of the world found out that the man teaching second-year maths at University College London also modelled for Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Moschino.

Pietro Boselli, Italian-born, had been modelling since he was six. An agent spotted him as a child and signed him with Armani Junior. But while his career in front of a camera took off, he was quietly building another one behind a whiteboard.

He graduated from UCL with First Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering, then completed a PhD on the design of steam turbine blades. His teaching module at UCL was called "Modelling and Analogies," focused on turbine design for power plants. He wasn't a professor. He was a postgraduate teaching assistant who happened to look like he'd walked off a runway. Because he had.

When the photos surfaced, the internet did what the internet does. "World's hottest maths teacher" trended globally. Boselli leaned into it, but not in the way people expected. He used the attention to push back against the assumption that appearance and intellect are mutually exclusive.

He's been modelling professionally for decades. He holds a PhD in mechanical engineering. He taught university-level maths. And apparently the world had trouble holding all three of those facts at once 👀
