A lot of important points about the drug supply chain in this article. Tools that enable modern drug manufacturing techniques, lowering cost while increasing safety are critical to strengthening the drug supply. BrightSpec has several years of development enabling just that.

Generics are often made in India, with ingredients from China. Time to diversify the supply chain.

Covid-19 will spur a renaissance in U.S. drug manufacturing.
This hydroxychloroquine shortage is one of several breakdowns related to overseas manufacture of our API's and drugs. The pharma industry has resisted adopting new technologies such as continuous manufacturing given the more proven regulatory pathway of batch manufacturing and the low cost sourcing options overseas. Leave it to a crisis for the government and industry to recognize the imperatives of domestic manufacture. Continuous manufacturing, enabled by technologies such as BrightSpec MRR which can monitor processes in real-time, will enable domestic drug manufacture at lower cost, faster scale-up of production, and a higher quality and hence safer product. I'm looking forward to help make this a reality.
