What makes an annual event special? Sometimes, it’s the things you don’t want to change.

Last week, we enjoyed a beautiful fall evening at VIRGINIAforever's annual Bridge Builder Celebration event at Oakdale RVA.

The event honors those who have championed efforts to protect Virginia’s land and water. This year, we recognized the Honorable R. Brian Ball and Marjorie Mayfield Jackson. We also enjoyed remarks from keynote speaker, the Honorable David Bulova, Secretary of Natural and Historic Resources.

Thank you to all who joined us, and to the folks at VIRGINIAforever for all they do to preserve our resources and help Virginia thrive!

A little association business, a lot of connection.

The Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners (VCNP) brought its statewide Board together last week at the Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen for a day of collaboration and updates.

From celebrating personal wins, to sharing homemade goodies and regional fundraising items, to enjoying lunch together after the meeting wrapped, the day was a reminder that associations are about so much more than just business. They're about bringing people together, building relationships and strengthening the communities they serve.

Amy shares a different perspective on AI in association management: while AI is becoming an increasingly valuable tool for everything from event marketing to registration and attendee engagement, its greatest impact isn't replacing personal connections—it's making them stronger.

Last week, the Easter team gathered at the beautiful Tides Inn for a full day of leadership, conversation and connection at the Old Dominion Highway Contractors Association (ODHCA) Annual Meeting.

Highlights included a presentation from VDOT Interim Chief Deputy Commissioner Sean Nelson, the Board of Directors and Joint General Membership meeting, installation of the new slate of officers and a legislative panel with Delegate Scott Wyatt and Senator Danny Diggs.

We ended the day with an outdoor reception and dinner, where the 2025–2026 President was recognized for his service, followed by remarks from The Honorable Mark Sickles, Secretary of Finance.

It was an incredible setting to reflect on our progress over the past year and look ahead to what’s next for ODHCA!
