Firefighters determined a furnace malfunction caused smoke to fill the residence.

Our firefighters take every opportunity they can to get a little training in! Today while working the Touch A Truck event at the Columbia County Fair with members of the NYS OFPC they were able to demonstrate and train with the Fire Search Maze training trailer.

🚒⚠️ Follow up on Mail Truck Rescue

"The mail must go! ✉️🚒

We’re happy to share that the mail carrier from yesterday’s rescue on Route 295 in Town of Chatham, New York was unharmed and is safely drying off. The mail truck has also been successfully removed from the area so the mail could be delivered.

Chief Eric Barnes was quoted “I’m incredibly proud of the dedicated, selfless hard work our volunteers do every day. The missions accomplished the past two days are just what they do everyday when called upon. The quick thinking by Officers and crew on Rescue 58-42 are commended”

Flood waters have officially receded around Chatham, and Route 295 was re-opened to all traffic earlier today. Thank you to all our volunteers for their hard work over the last two days.

Your Chatham volunteers are back at it today. Day 2 after the storm and volunteers are still out helping neighbors pump basements.

CFD responded to 15 calls for service yesterday and have already responded to 6 alarms today.
