♻️ “Before You Declutter: What to Donate vs. What to Toss”
🧺 What to DONATE
(If it still works, someone else can use it.)
Furniture in good condition
Chairs, tables, dressers, shelves — especially solid wood.
Working appliances
Microwaves, toasters, coffee makers, vacuums.
Clothing + shoes
Clean, gently used, no rips or stains.
Housewares
Dishes, cookware, utensils, décor.
Books + media
Libraries, shelters, and thrift stores love these.
Toys + games
Especially complete sets and clean plush items.
Tools + yard equipment
Working mowers, trimmers, hand tools.
Electronics that still function
Laptops, tablets, monitors — many nonprofits refurbish them.
🗑️ What to TOSS
(Broken, unsafe, or unusable items belong in the waste stream.)
Broken furniture
Moldy, water‑damaged, or structurally unsafe.
Stained or torn clothing
Donation centers cannot resell these.
Non‑working appliances
Especially ones with frayed cords or missing parts.
Damaged cookware
Chipped plates, scratched nonstick pans.
Old mattresses + pillows
Most donation centers cannot accept them.
Broken toys
Missing pieces, cracked plastic, safety hazards.
Electronics that won’t power on
These often require special disposal.
Hazardous materials
Paint, chemicals, propane tanks — perfect for a safety PSA.
🧭 The “3‑Question Rule”
Is it clean and in good condition?
Would I give this to a friend?
Does it still work as intended?
If the answer is yes, donate.
If no, toss or schedule a pickup.
Question: Are you willing to share YOUR favorite donation centers, please include city since we cover a wide area and locations.
