25 YEARS. WE REMEMBER.
Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was changed forever.
On September 11, 2001, 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority police officers, and countless other first responders ran toward danger while others were running away. They answered the call to serve, protect, and save lives — knowing only that someone needed help.
We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost that day.
We remember the families who were forever changed.
We remember the survivors who continue to carry the memories of that day.
And we remember the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Twenty-five years later, the images may have faded for some, but the courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood demonstrated that day should never be forgotten.
As firefighter/EMTs, we understand the weight of the words “when others need help, we go.” September 11 reminds us of the responsibility that comes with wearing the uniform — and of the men and women who gave everything in service to others.
Today, we pause.
We remember the lives.
We honor the sacrifice.
We will never forget.
