Every hero in history or fiction has an origin story that we can relate to. Otherwise, why would we invest in watching or reading the hero's adventure unfold?
Each of us is on our own hero's journey, and most of us aren't clear on whether we are playing a 'supporting role' in someone else's story or are the 'protagonist' of our own.
This is why it's important to start at the beginning of the story with your origin story, as it allows us, and you to see exactly where you are right now and where you've come from.
WHAT IS THE “ORIGINS?”
‘Origins’ is the first of three acts in which a Hero exists before their new adventure begins, oblivious of what is to come. Their origin is their everyday, safe routine of familiarity, from which we learn crucial original data about our Hero, their nature, interests, and outlook on life. Their origins illustrate their relatable and fundamental humanness.
THE HERO’S EXPERIENCE: Limited Awareness Of The Problem
At this stage, the hero isn’t fully aware of a greater world beyond their daily life and, therefore, what else they may be capable of. As such, they have little insight as to the role they can play to affect their world if they wanted to.
