I worked at the main prison in Nashville in the early 70’s. Behind “the walls” running the 11 plants that manufactured all the wood and metal furniture/desks/filing cabinets/ license plates/soap/paint/ clothing for all the institutions, etc etc . 4.4 million dollars a year in production with inmate labor.
One of my inmate clerks in my Production Control Department had shot the man having s*x with his wife 27 times. He walked in on them. He obviously had an arsenal in his closet.
I asked him: “ I get it! You got insane! … but why 27 bullets??”
I will never forget his answer.
“I ran out of bullets” he said rather calmly.
