JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: CDM's Friends' Discovery Camp Nurse

FLSA: Contract

Department: Education

Reports To: VP of Education

Occupational Summary

The Camp Nurse is a key team member for CDM's Friends' Discovery Camp (June 3-7, 2024; June 10-14, 2024; July 8-12, 2024). They support the medical needs of campers while attending FDC, including but not limited to: administering routine medication, using/monitoring feeding tubes, responding to digital diabetes monitors, transferring in/out of wheelchairs and assisting with restroom and clothes change needs, monitoring and having general awareness of children at rise of seizures while at camp, and allergy point person.

The Camp Nurse participates in the camp environment with CDM staff and college-age buddies in a mutually supporting, team-based environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving children with disabilities (1st-8th grade) and align to our vision of providing an accessible camp experience for all.

This position may be filled by any licensed nurse (LPN, RN).

Duties & Responsibilities Preparation & Communication

-- Prepare for each week of camp by reviewing camper information, communicating with caregivers as needed, and preparing any supplies that are needed. Any supplies that will need to be purchased should be communicated to the VP of Education.
-- Ensures compliance with established health guidelines, safety and infection control procedures, and all other applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards, practices, policies and procedures.
-- Dispenses prescribed medications appropriately to campers.
-- Maintains appropriate medical records regarding all dispensation of medication.
-- Provides routine and emergency medical care to students within the prescribed boundaries of training, certification, and applicable policies and procedures and according to individual differences and diagnoses.
-- Monitors inventory of department equipment and supplies; ensures availability of adequate materials to conduct work activities. Communicates equipment and supplies needs to VP of Education.
-- Maintains current license as an LPN or RN.

Education & Experience

REQUIRED:

-- Two-year Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
-- Minimum of three (3) years previous experience and/or training involving nursing, preferably in a school, pediatric, adolescent, or public health environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
-- Must possess and maintain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in Tennessee.
-- Must possess and maintain valid CPR and First Aid certification.

PREFERRED:

Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required

-- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with campers, museum staff, parents, and other stakeholders.
-- Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee nursing license or a compact state license.
-- Ability to utilize a computer or tablet and other technology in order to enter and retrieve data.
-- Work well with children, especially children with acute chronic illnesses, injuries, handicapping conditions, and developmental disabilities.

The Guest Services Associate handles the day to day operations of the museum's ticket desk while supporting and advancing the museum's membership program. Superior customer service skills are required. Staff are responsible for sales, cash control, cleaning and safety and security.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide superior customer service at all times. Associates will greet all visitors, ensure consistency of information by following museum scripts, and handle all interactions with visitors courteously and politely.
- Must be able to determine the best products to present and sell to the customer. Associates will be asked to achieve monthly sales goals, promote products, programs, and memberships, and understand all memberships and membership specials.
- Demonstrate competency with the point of sale system. Associates will be required to change receipt printer paper, utilize basic troubleshooting skills, and complete customer transactions.
- Adhere to all proper money handling policies and procedures. Associates must maintain cash drawers, and ensure an adequate supply of change remains in their assigned drawer throughout their shift.
- Ensure the ticket desk is stocked, tidy, and ready for the day's activities. Associates are required to complete opening/closing checklists, shut down computer systems at end of day, and run appropriate reports.
- Communicate with parents and teachers to ensure reservations are accurate. Provide reports and information to the Reservations department regarding school groups.
- Ensure the lobby and ticket desk are clean and presentable at all times. Restock brochures, sweep lobby daily, tidy up ticket counters and health screening table, and keep membership stand stocked.
- Ensure all guests are checked in properly by monitoring guest entrance and exit. Report any door alarms or any unauthorized weapons in the building to management, respond to fire alarms, communicate with the security system and maintenance department, usher guests to the closest exit in event of emergency, respond to weather announcements, and monitor the door during lost child codes. Use safety measures when using equipment and ensure safe and secure storage of inventory.
- Other tasks as assigned.
