Jim Steed with Cornerstone Insurance Group shared an important insight that many people don’t realize just like you have a credit score, you also have an insurance score. This score plays a major role in determining your rates and even your eligibility for coverage.

While your credit score does factor in, it’s only part of the picture. Insurance carriers also look closely at your claims history including the small claims many people don’t think twice about, like windshield repairs or towing. Over time, those “minor” claims can add up and impact your insurability or lead to higher premiums.

When it’s installed wrong, well… let’s just say you could end up paying for someone else’s poor performance for a long time. There are other solid insulation options that still get the job done without the drama.

His main message: don’t wait until your system gives out on the hottest or coldest day of the year. Preventative maintenance keeps everything flowing properly and avoids those emergency calls when things suddenly stop working. Nobody likes a surprise breakdown when comfort is on the line.

Frank Holcombe – Sentry Station
Frank kept things rolling with a reminder that your vehicle needs regular attention if you expect it to perform well over time. Leaving a good review is always appreciated — but so is taking good care of the machine that gets you where you need to go.

From oil changes and check engine lights to slipping transmissions and flats, Frank sees it all. Tires typically last about four years, whether you’re putting miles on them or not. Time can be just as rough as mileage. Let them sit too long without attention and they’ll start to show their age and nobody wants to be caught out with worn rubber when traction matters most.

We had a great BNI meeting today with two fantastic speakers!

Our first speaker was Billy Johnson with Mattress Outlet of Chattanooga. Billy shared helpful insight on how the right mattress can make a huge difference in reducing morning aches and improving sleep quality. Choosing the right bed for your body truly matters. Jim Graham shared that effective financial planning isn’t about how much money you have — it’s about asking the right questions. When working with clients or referrals, Jim focuses on clarity and preparation.

He asks things like: Are you paying yourself first? Do you have an exit strategy if you own a business with partners? What’s the plan for life insurance and the “what ifs”? How much is truly enough to live the life you want?

Jim emphasized that Social Security alone isn’t a plan and that waiting to start is often the biggest mistake. His message was simple: anything is a good start, and having a clear plan creates confidence.
