🚛🌊 Taking trucking to another level! 🌊🚛

Today some of our crew loaded up in Charlevoix and headed across the water to Beaver Island. It’s not every day you see semi trucks riding a barge across Lake Michigan, but when the job needs to get done, our guys are ready to go wherever the road—or water—takes them.

A big thank you to our drivers and crew for their hard work, professionalism, and commitment to getting the job done safely and efficiently.

After loading the trucks and wrapping up the work, Dan took a few minutes to enjoy a legendary Charlevoix Bloody Mary. Judging by the photo, it may have required a meal plan and a permit! 🍅😂

- Underground utility work complete
- Concrete curb and gutter work complete
- Concrete sidewalk in process
- Mitchell and Howard Street intersection sidewalks completed
- Sidewalk decorative brick work in process
- Irrigation, tree planting and restoration work started
- Anticipating completion mid- June

May 1, 2026 Construction Update - Howard & East Mitchell Street Reconstruction

-Sanitary sewer main replacement complete
-Water main replacement will be complete early May
-Storm sewer replacement will be complete early May
-Intersection planter removed and replaced
-Majority of the removals are complete
-Traffic signal rewiring work started
-Concrete sidewalk and curb work to start early May
-Sidewalk and intersection decorative brick work to follow concrete placement
-Anticipating completion mid- June

Taking it to the sky for a different view 👀 — here’s a look at the progress from above on the Howard & Mitchell Street Road & Utility Rebuild!

Our crews have been hard at work moving material, setting structures, and pushing this project forward. These aerial shots really show the scale of excavation and coordination happening on-site.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue working through this area — it’s all part of building a better, more reliable infrastructure for the community.

🚧 Project Update – Petoskey, MI 🚧

E.F. Wilkinson & Son’s, Inc. is making great progress on the Road & Utility Rebuild at Howard & Mitchell Street in Petoskey.

Our crews have been hard at work excavating, installing new underground utilities, and preparing the area for the next phases of construction. From deep trench work to material handling and site grading, there’s a lot happening on this job as we rebuild from the ground up.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue working in a busy downtown area. Please continue to use caution when traveling through the work zone and follow posted signage.

Big thanks to our crew for their hard work and dedication on this project — putting in the effort every day to keep things moving forward safely and efficiently. 💪

Big shoutout and THANK YOU to everyone who stepped up in a big way this weekend.

We want to thank Rieth-Riley Construction for the use of the quarry, Robiadek & Son’s Excavating, Cheboygan Cement Products and Jake Brown with Mi Property Improvements for their help hauling and building the pad—your support and partnership made this possible.

And most importantly, a huge thank you to our crew at E.F. Wilkinson & Son’s, Inc. who answered the call. Starting Sunday night at 8 PM and working straight through into Monday morning, hauling and building the pad for Consumers Energy during the dam emergency here in Cheboygan—this is what dedication looks like.

Proud of the teamwork, the long hours, and the commitment to getting the job done when it mattered most.

And a special thank you to the residents on South Street near the dam—we know it wasn’t a quiet night with the truck traffic, tailgates, and backup alarms going until 6 AM, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding.
