In conjunction with Klamath County Emergency Management, Chemult Rural Fire Protection District is trying to determine how many structures within our fire district were damaged due to the storms over the last couple of weeks; these would include residential, commercial, industrial or agricultural structures, damaged due to falling trees, or collapsed roofs due to the excessive snow load.

If this applies to you please contact CRFPD station 1 @ 541365-2255 and advise us please.

Thank you Chief Harrington and ASST: Chief Don Siemsen

is with true regret that I have to announce the death of my Husband Rusty Shield He passed away Friday, October 27th at St Charles Hospital of Cancer.
My husband Rusty Shield was a remarkable man. We had 7 children, and 12 grandchildren together. Rusty worked as a Rancher, Ironworker, Ranch Foreman, Volunteer Firefighter, Paid Firefighter, Oregon Volunteer Firefighters Past President, and an EMT. Rusty worked at Charleston Fire & Rescue - Oregon as a Fire Instructor, Captain, Battalion Chief, Maintenance tech, and Fire Prevention are just a few of the hats he wore.
Rusty was the head train engineer for the Charleston Oregon Christmas Train Display He would spend 1 month from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve hosting the trains. We had 17 years of presenting the Trains. In 2016 about 15,000 people came to visit the Train Display.
Rusty has been the Chemult RFPD Fire Chief since May 2018.
He retired from Charleston Fire & Rescue - Oregon, where he served from 1987 to 2017.
He worked with Rope Rescue Teams, Dive Rescue, and The Fire Marshals Office at the Oregon State Fair for Fire Prevention.
Rusty was a trained diver and did Boat Recovery, cleaned boat hulls, and removed rope from the wheels.
He was an amazing Father, Husband, and Grandfather.
The family is very sad to lose our Patriarch. Rusty was community-spirited till the very last. He worked till the last day giving instructions to me and his District Personnel. It was his last wish for Chemult RFPD to go forward in a positive and proactive future.
