The West Plains will never forget.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, first responders, service members, students and community members across the West Plains came together to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day and honor the courage and sacrifice that followed.

The morning began at Spokane County Fire District 10, where members of District 10, Airway Heights Fire Dept, Airway Heights Police, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Spokane County Fire District 3 gathered in remembrance of the fallen.

Later at Eastern Washington University, members of SCFD3 joined Cheney Fire, Cheney Police, EWU Police, the U.S. Army, and EWU students, faculty and community members for a memorial stair climb honoring those who lost their lives on September 11.

Twenty-five years later, the events of 9/11 remain part of our nation’s story—and so do the courage, service and unity shown in the face of unimaginable loss.
We remember those who were lost. We honor those who answered the call. And we carry their memory forward.

Never forget. 🇺🇸

🔥 Meet WPRA Class 26-2!
This week, a new group of recruits began their journey through the West Plains Recruit Academy.
The regional academy brings together volunteer and part-time firefighter recruits from Spokane County Fire District 3, Cheney Fire Department, Spokane County Fire District 10, and Airway Heights Fire Department to train side-by-side and build the skills they’ll need to serve their communities.
Over the coming months, these recruits will be challenged physically and mentally as they learn the fundamentals of firefighting, teamwork, and emergency response.
We’re excited to welcome WPRA Class 26-2 and follow their progress as they work toward becoming the next generation of West Plains firefighters.
Good luck, recruits—the work starts now! 🚒🔥
