Running a remote mining operation means your internet connection isn't just for email — it's carrying machine telemetry, SCADA systems, safety alarms, and regulatory reporting. When it goes down, so does your operational picture.

We just published a deep dive on how we design bonded connectivity for remote mine sites: dual Starlink terminals, LTE failover, QoS that prioritizes safety traffic over crew Netflix, OT/IT network segmentation, and remote management so you don't have to charter a float plane every time a router needs a reboot.

If your site is relying on a single dish, read this.

Remote mining operations need more than one internet link. Here's how bonded Starlink, LTE, and VSAT keep drill sites and remote camps connected in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.

Rural ISPs: ransomware groups are targeting you on purpose.

Small team, critical infrastructure, high pressure to restore service fast — that's exactly what attackers look for.

We wrote a practical guide covering what to do in the first 72 hours if you get hit — containment, communications, backup recovery, and how to avoid the most common mistakes.

If your network serves hospitals, schools, or public safety, you need a plan before an incident happens.

Read it here

A ransomware attack on a rural ISP affects entire communities. Here's how to respond in the first 72 hours — isolation, assessment, recovery, and hardening.

Fire season is already underway across the Pacific Northwest — and the communications infrastructure at an Incident Command Post can make or break how a fire is managed.

After supporting ICP deployments across Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii, here's what we've learned about what actually works:

Starlink bonding changed everything. A single Starlink terminal delivers 80–200 Mbps with 20–40ms latency — but a single outage during active air attack can delay retardant drop coordination. We run two terminals in a bonded configuration with cellular backup. If one goes down, the other carries the full load. Automatically.

Network segmentation isn't optional. Operations traffic (ICS, ROSS, radio logging) needs to be on a separate VLAN from crew internet. A 4K video stream from a crew member shouldn't degrade the Dispatch desk's connection to resource ordering.

Radio integration is where most ICPs fall short. Recording all tactical channels, RoIP gateways for remote IC staff, and interoperability patching between P25, VHF, and 800 MHz systems — this is standard on Type 1 operations, and it prevents the communication breakdowns that show up in every major post-fire review.

We keep pre-configured ICP communications kits staged and ready — operational at a fire camp in under 3 hours of arrival.

'Twas the night before Christmas, and up on the tower, Not a signal was blinking at this festive hour. The fiber was spliced and the networks were tight, All systems were stable on this silent night.

The routers were nestled, all snug in their racks, No tickets were pending, no urgent callbacks. The cables were coiled, the tools put to bed, While visions of bandwidth danced in our heads.

From Oregon's high desert to islands so fair, The Richesin crew sends our thanks through the air. For trusting us with your connections this year— We're grateful for each of you, far and near.

So we're powering down for a well-deserved rest, To recharge our batteries and be with those we love best. But don't worry, we'll answer when duty does call— Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, peace to you all!

See you Monday, refreshed and ready to climb, Solving your tech challenges, one job at a time.

🎥 SECURITY CAMERA INSTALLATION

Things our clients' cameras have solved:
❌ "The delivery driver said he left it at the door"
❌ "I definitely clocked in on time"
❌ "Nobody touched the thermostat"
❌ "The customer was already like that when I got here"
❌ "I have no idea how that dent got in the forklift"
Funny how memories improve when people know there's footage.

Professional security camera systems for businesses tired of playing detective.
✅ Warehouses & job sites
✅ Offices & retail
✅ Construction sites
✅ Remote viewing from your phone (so you can check in from the golf course—we won't tell)
