Trey Adcock, a Cherokee Nation citizen and associate professor of interdisciplinary studies at UNC Asheville, has received the university's Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching. UNC Asheville officials noted, "Trey's impactful teaching extends beyond the classroom, mentoring students in research and community-engaged scholarship, such as in the 'Stories of the Snowbird Day School' project. Students have investigated the roles of art, storytelling, and food systems in resistance to assimilation, co-constructing and sharing knowledge with Cherokee communities." (UNC Asheville photo)
