🧠June is Brain Awareness Month đź§
When we think about our health, we often focus on our heart, blood pressure, or weight. But how often do we think about our brain?
For people looking into prevention and wellness, there is quite a lot we can do. First there are the basics such as staying physically active, maintaining social connections, getting quality sleep, managing stress, and continuing to learn new things. Additionally, we need to pay attention to hearing, sense of smell, vision and preventing head injuries. Lastly, and something often not discussed in improving cognitive reserve and brain neuroplasticity.
For those living with dementia, meaningful engagement, connection, and purpose remain just as important. Every conversation, every shared memory, and every moment of connection matters.
This Brain Awareness Month, challenge yourself to do one thing each day that supports your brain health. Your future self may thank you for it.
