TFC Recycling

TFC Recycling Founded in 1973, TFC Recycling is a privately owned and family-operated business. TFC Recycling is one of Virginia’s largest residential curbside recyclers.

Through our partnerships and agreements with municipal governments and public service authorities, we provide recycling services for over 600,000 households and more than 4,000 commercial customers throughout Virginia and North Carolina. Through our partnerships and agreements with municipal governments and public service authorities, TFC provides recycling services for over 600,000 households and

more than 4,000 commercial customers throughout Virginia and North Carolina. Headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia, TFC employs over 300 people and operates more than 150 collection and transfer vehicles. TFC pioneered the first automated Material Recovery Facility (MRF) on the East Coast and continues to revolutionize the industry through the use of single-stream recycling, which allows customers and residents to throw recyclable paper, bottles, and cans in one recycling container. No sorting is needed. When recycling is easier, overall participation rates are higher. Our investment in this state-of-the-art technology ensures more recyclables are captured and processed efficiently. An increasing number of TFC trucks are powered by Clean Natural Gas (CNG). TFC has a long and storied history with recycling and an exciting future as a leader in the recycling industry. With an unwavering passion for recycling and for finding solutions for turning waste into a resource, TFC continually seeks innovative recycling programs that educate customers and help protect the environment. As one of the largest recyclers in Virginia, we believe that the most important value is to do the right thing for our environment and our community as we provide Responsible Waste Solutions.

✨It's time to highlight another wonderful TFC Recycling team member! Let's give Jamie Gregory a lot of love, she is our Human Resources Specialist.

📍Originally from Statesville, North Carolina, Jamie still loves heading home to enjoy the small-town charm and endless green scenery that brings back all the childhood nostalgia.

🐾Outside of work, life revolves around spending time with her dogs and soaking up the outdoors whenever possible.

♻One thing Jamie learned after joining TFC Recycling? Not all plastics can be recycled, especially plastic shopping bags. Instead of tossing them in your curbside bin, take them back to your local grocery store for proper recycling or reuse them when you can.

🐝Fun fact: she's completely hooked on nature documentaries. From animals and geography to science and the wonders of Earth, there’s always something new to learn.

Thanks for all you do for us, Jamie!

Remembering all who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Remembering all who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Honoring all the members of our armed forces who gave what President Abraham Lincoln called "the last full measure of devotion," Memorial Day is one of the most important and solemn days on the National Mall. Across 250 years of American history, starting with those who fell while fighting alongside General George Washington in the Revolutionary War to recent conflicts, we will never forget our heroes. The military memorials on the National Mall are stunning tributes to hundreds of thousands of people who laid down their lives for freedom. Today we lay wreaths at these special places, but every day, walking past stone walls and metal statues, we recognize the loved and lost and offer the thanks of a grateful nation.

Precycling helps reduce waste by considering the lifespan of an item BEFORE making a purchase.

🤔Can you reuse the container after the item is used?
🤔Can you place the container in recycling after it's emptied?

Say you are about to purchase eggs and the container options are styrofoam, plastic, or cardboard. Cardboard would be the best option because not only could you recycle the cardboard, but you could also repurpose it in your garden to start seedlings, use it to help sort out little screws and nails, for crafts, etc!

Little steps like these go a long way.

Farm Day at Indica Farms with Peanut Soil and Water Conservation District was one for the books! 🦢🌱

From April 29–30, students visited our table to test their recycling skills in a fast-paced sorting game for a chance to win candy for their entire class! Teams of 3 raced to separate trash from recyclables — and the stakes were high. 😀

If the team made a mistake, they still went home with fun recycling magnets. But if they got every item correct, they won seeds to plant and grow! 👏

The fun didn’t stop there — kids also enjoyed a petting zoo, hands-on demonstrations from local organizations and businesses, and even a hay-themed photo booth! 📸 🐏

Check out the video for a glimpse into all the Farm Day fun and learning in action!

Meet Georgina Egas. Georgina is our Accounts Receivable Lead here at TFC Recycling!

I moved to Virginia from Boston when I was 11, and it’s been home ever since. ☀️🌊

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outside, spending time with family, taking nature walks, or enjoying beach nights to recharge.

Since joining TFC Recycling, I’ve realized just how much happens behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Working in accounting means paying attention to the details and making sure all the pieces line up.

Fun fact: I’m all about good vibes — if the energy is right, I can have a great time pretty much anywhere. ✨
